Transsexual
A transsexual person is someone who experiences a gender identity that is inconsistent with their assigned sex, and desires to permanently transition to the sex or gender with which they identify, usually seeking medical assistance (including gender affirming therapies, such as hormone replacement therapy and gender affirming surgery) to help them align their body with their identified sex or gender. A medical diagnosis of gender dysphoria can be made if a person experiences marked and persistent incongruence between their gender identity and their assigned sex. Understanding of transsexual people has rapidly evolved in the 21st century; many 20th century medical beliefs and practices around transsexual people are now considered outdated. Transsexual people were once classified as mentally ill and subject to extensive gatekeeping by the medical esta ...

Trans Fat
Trans fat is a type of unsaturated fat that occurs in foods. Small amounts of trans fats occur naturally, but large amounts are found in some processed foods made with partially hydrogenated oils. Because consumption of trans fats is associated with increased risk for cardiovascular diseases, artificial trans fats are highly regulated or banned in many countries. However, they are still widely consumed in developing nations where they are associated with increased risk of diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and death. In 2015, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) stated that artificial trans fats from partially hydrogenated oils were not generally recognized as safe (GRAS), and the use of such oils and trans fats should be limited or eliminated from manufactured foods. Numerous governing bodies, including the European Union, Canada, and Australia/New Zealand, followed with restrictions or bans on the use of partially hydrogenated oils and trans fats in food manufacturing. ...

Trans (album)
''Trans'' is the thirteenth studio album by Canadian-American musician and singer-songwriter Neil Young, released on January 10, 1983. Recorded and released during his Geffen era in the 1980s, its electronic sound baffled many fans upon its initial release—a Sennheiser vocoder VSM201 features prominently in six of the nine tracks. Background In 1982, Young left Reprise Records, his record label since his debut album in 1968, to sign with Geffen Records—the label founded and owned by David Geffen, who had worked with Young as manager of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. Young's contract guaranteed him $1 million per album, as well as total creative control over his output. From late 1980 to mid-1982, Young spent much of his waking hours carrying out a therapy program for his young son, Ben, who was born with cerebral palsy and unable to speak. Young disclosed to almost no one at the time that he was doing so, or that the repetitive nature of the songs on both the previous a ...

Trans*
''Trans*'' is a neologism and conceptual term that refers to a deliberately open-ended cluster of meanings, often used to describe gender-expansive identities, ontological frameworks, and critiques of hegemonic gender systems. The asterisk denotes inclusivity and fluidity, signaling a departure from static definitions of “transgender” and allowing space for multiple identities, histories, and theoretical orientations to co-exist under a shared but non-uniform umbrella. Etymology and Usage The term trans* emerged in the early 21st century within activist, academic, and online communities. For some, it operates as an umbrella term encompassing identities such as transgender, transsexual, genderqueer, agender, and genderfluid. However, in academic contexts—particularly within philosophy, critical theory, education, and ethnic studies—trans* functions less as a category and more as a critical orientation or analytic that interrogates the structures of gender, power, and know ...
