Trambaix
The Trambaix () is one of Barcelona's three tram systems. It is operated by TRAMMET connecting the Baix Llobregat area with the city of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. It opened to the public on 5 April 2004 after a weekend when the tram could be used free of charge. The Trambaix includes three different routes (T1, T2 and T3). The tram route starts at Plaça Francesc Macià in Barcelona to the west of the city and extends west, passing L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Esplugues de Llobregat, Cornellà de Llobregat, Sant Joan Despí and Sant Just Desvern. An extension of Tram T3 opened on 8 December 2006, as far as Consell Comarcal in Sant Feliu de Llobregat. The yearly ridership of all of its lines combined is of 15,057,318 passengers as of 2008. The Trambaix complements the Trambesòs that runs to the north-east of the city. Both networks will be interconnected through Avinguda Diagonal in the next construction phase. Avinguda Diagonal
Avinguda Diagonal (; in Spanish language, Spanish: Avenida Diagonal) is the name of one of Barcelona's broadest and most important avenues. It cuts the city in two, diagonally with respect to the grid pattern of the surrounding streets, hence the name. It was originally projected by engineer and urban planning, urban planner Ildefons Cerdà as one of the city's wide avenues, which along with Avinguda Meridiana, Barcelona, Avinguda Meridiana would cut the rationalist grid he designed for l'Eixample (Catalan language, Catalan for ''extension''). Both would meet at Plaça de les Glòries Catalanes, which Cerdà envisioned as the new city centre. However, Plaça Catalunya, equally a new addition to the city of Barcelona, and connecting Ciutat Vella and Eixample, and therefore occupying a more privileged position in the urban area, would finally become the centre. Trambesòs
Trambesòs () is a tram–light rail system in the Spanish autonomous community of Catalonia that links the Barcelona district of Sant Martí with Badalona and Sant Adrià de Besòs. Its name comes from the union of the words "tram", an abbreviation of the Catalan word for "tram" (''tramvia''), and "Besòs", the name of an area in the north of the Barcelonès region dominated by the Besòs River. The first section of Trambesòs was opened on 8 May 2004 as part of route T4 and since its opening it has undergone several extensions. The most recent extension opened on November 10, 2024. It was the first step to connect the network to the Trambaix along the Avinguda Diagonal, with a three station extension from Glòries to Verdaguer. Trambesòs is operated by TRAM. Trams In Barcelona
Historically, the city of Barcelona, in the Spanish autonomous community of Catalonia, had a large tramway network. The city's first tram line opened in 1872, but almost all of these historic lines had closed by 1971, being replaced by buses and by the expanding Barcelona Metro. Zona Universitària Station
Zona Universitària is a station in the Barcelona Metro and Trambaix networks, in the Les Corts district of Barcelona. It is currently the western terminus of metro line L3 and L9. Also it's served by tram lines T1, T2 and T3. It is named after the Universitat de Barcelona campus of the same name. The metro station is located under ''Avinguda Diagonal'', between ''Carrer González Tablas'' and ''Avinguda Dr. Marañón''. It has five entrances, two on each side of ''Avinguda Diagonal'', one in ''Avinguda Dr. Marañón'', and two long side platforms. The entrance lobby features an artwork by the sculptor Angel Orensanz. Maria Cristina is a station in the Barcelona Metro and Trambaix networks, in the District of Les Corts, Les Corts district of Barcelona. It is served by metro line Barcelona Metro line 3, L3 and tram lines T1, T2 and T3. Francesc Macià Station
Francesc Macià is a Trambaix station and a projected metro station located in the Plaça de Francesc Macià, Barcelona, crossed by the Avinguda Diagonal, in the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi district. This stop is the terminal for the three Trambaix routes (T1, T2 and T3). Also it is planned to be a Barcelona Metro station, which is due to be served by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) L8, as part of the station's enlargement towards Gràcia. It would be located on the Plaça de Francesc Macià, in the district of Sarrià-Sant Gervasi. TRAMMET
Tramvia Metropolità, SA (TramMet) is a company based in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. It's a joint venture of the companies FCC-Vivendi, COMSA, Acciona-Necso, Alstom, Sarbus, Soler&Sauret, Banc Sabadell and Société Générale. It was created in 1999 to operate the new tram systems in Barcelona, Trambaix and Trambesòs from April 27, 2000. Ernest Lluch Station
Ernest Lluch is a Trambaix tram stop and a Barcelona Metro station in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, to the south-west of Barcelona. The construction works of the new station started in 2007, though they were suspended in 2011 by the Generalitat of Catalonia, Catalan government due to the 2008–15 Spanish financial crisis, 2008–15 financial crisis in the country, construction was reactivated in 2019 and inaugurated on July 25, 2021. The metro station is located between the Pubilla Cases (Barcelona Metro), Pubilla Cases and Collblanc (Barcelona Metro), Collblanc stations, and serves as an interchange station to the Trambaix tram system.
