North Hempstead (officially known as the Town of North Hempstead) is one of three Administrative divisions of New York#Town, towns in Nassau County, New York, Nassau County, on Long Island, in New York (state), New York, United States. The population was 237,639 at the time of the 2020 census. It is the 7th largest city or town in New York by population. History The area was first settled by Europeans around 1643 and became part of the town of Hempstead, New York, Hempstead. During the American Revolution the southern part of Hempstead was primarily Loyalist (American Revolution), Tory, while the northern part, having been settled by Yankees, supported the revolution. Interlaken is a village in Seneca County, New York, United States. The population was 602 at the 2010 census. The name is related to the village's position between two lakes. Great Neck is a station on the Long Island Rail Road's Port Washington Branch in the Village of Great Neck Plaza, Nassau County, New York.
