Toumani Diabaté
Toumani Diabaté ( ; 10 August 1965 – 19 July 2024) was a Malian kora player. In addition to performing the traditional music of Mali, he was involved in cross-cultural collaborations with flamenco, blues, jazz, and other international styles of music. In 2006, a panel commissioned by ''The Independent'' named him one of the fifty best African artists across media. In its obituary, ''The Times'' described him as "a bold and innovative musical visionary". Biography Diabaté was born on 10 August 1965 in Bamako, the capital of Mali, five years after the country had gained its independence from France. He came from a long family tradition of players of the kora, a 21-string west African harp-like instrument. His father, Sidiki Diabaté, recorded the first-ever kora album, in 1970. Toumani Camara ( ; born 8 May 2000) is a Belgian professional basketball player for the Portland Trail Blazers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Raised in Belgium, he moved to the United States to attend Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory School in Hollywood, Florida. Camara started his college basketball career with the Georgia Bulldogs and then transferred to the Dayton Flyers after his sophomore season. He was selected in the 2023 NBA draft by the Phoenix Suns and traded to the Trail Blazers before the start of his rookie season. Early life Camara was raised in Brussels, Belgium. Toumani Diagouraga (born 10 June 1987) is a French football coach and former professional player who played as a defensive midfielder. He is currently an academy coach for club Middlesbrough. He played his entire career in the English Football League and made 529 League appearances between 2005 and 2023. Diagouraga began his career at Watford and played for Hereford United and Peterborough United, before rising to prominence with Brentford, for whom he made 246 appearances in all competitions. Amadou Toumani Touré
Amadou Toumani Touré (4 November 19489 November 2020), also popularly known in Mali by his initials ATT (), was a Malian politician. He supervised Mali's first multiparty elections as chairman of the transitional government (1991–1992), and later became the second democratically elected Heads of State of Mali, President of Mali (2002–2012). Touré was head of President Moussa Traoré's personal guard (and parachute regiment) when a popular revolution overthrew the regime in March 1991; Colonel Touré then arrested the President and led the revolution onward. He presided over a year-long military-civilian transition process that produced a new Constitution and multiparty elections, then handed power to Mali's first democratically elected president, Alpha Oumar Konaré, on 6 June 1992.
