Tonga Women's National Rugby League Team
The Tonga Mate Ma'a Tonga women's rugby league team ( to, timi līki ʻakapulu fakafonua fefine ʻa Tonga), is under the former governing body TNRL. The very first Tonga womens team was in 2003 and known as the Mate Ma'a Tonga womens team administrated by the Tonga National Rugby League (TNRL) body. The newly formed Tonga women's national rugby league incorporated is under the Tongan Government with the national men's team. TNRL are no longer the national administrating body for Tonga Rugby League. Players The following squad was announced on 17 June 2022 ahead of Tonga's match against in Auckland on 25 June 2022. Just two of those named played in the November 2020 match against Niue. The side is coached by Marlin Dymock (head coach) and Jim Dymock (assistant). Tweed Heads Seagulls
The Tweed Heads Seagulls, often referred to simply as Tweed or Seagulls or Tweed Seagulls, is a rugby league club based in Tweed Heads, New South Wales. It is one of only two non-Queensland teams to play in the Queensland Cup, along with the PNG Hunters. History Union beginnings Seagulls Football Club was established in 1908 and began competing in the Tweed District Rugby Union competition in 1909. Land located in the west of Tweed-Heads was purchased where the stadium and clubhouse were built in 1972. The Seagulls played their home games at Tweed Heads Recreation Ground. Tonga National Rugby League Team
The Tonga national rugby league team ( to, timi līki ʻakapulu fakafonua ʻa Tonga) represents Tonga in rugby league football. They are currently the second ranked team in the world. The team was formed to compete in the 1986 Pacific Cup, and have competed at six Rugby League World Cups, starting in 1995 and continuing consecutively until the most recent tournament. Their best result was at the 2017 Rugby League World Cup, where they were semi-finalists. Formerly administered by the Tonga National Rugby League, the team is now in a state of limbo with administration. They wear a predominantly red uniform with white sides and are associated with the phrase Mate Ma'a Tonga (English: ''Die for Tonga''). Tongan National Rugby League
The Tongan National Rugby League (or for sponsorship reasons the TNRL Global Insurance Cup) is the major rugby league cup for semi-professional clubs in Tonga. Currently there are nineteen teams in the cup (12 in the first, 7 in the second) that compete annually in the national competition. The league was established in 1988 to create a top tier national rugby league competition in Tonga after several scattered leagues existed in areas of the country previously and a combined national competition was deemed better for the national side and Tongan rugby league in general. With the establishment of the TNRL the Tonga national rugby league team now each year contains several players whom currently play in the domestic competition, the 2006 national team contained both Simione Foliaki and Taufa Fukofuka from the Vaini Doves and the Mu'a Saints. Rugby league is a popular team sport played in Tonga. History The Tongan national team was formed to enter the 1986 Pacific Cup. A domestic competition consisting of six clubs was launched in 1988. During the Super League war, Tonga joined the News Corp-backed Super League in June 1995. Competitions The Tongan Rugby League competition comprises 12 teams in the first division, and 7 in the second. Following the 2017 Rugby League World Cup, the competition was renamed the Jason Taumalolo Cup. Hard Rock Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium located in Miami Gardens, Florida. 2018 Rugby League Commonwealth Championship
The 2018 Rugby League Commonwealth Championship was a rugby league nines tournament organised by the Rugby League International Federation (RLIF) to be played in Moreton Bay, Queensland, Australia in February 2018. The event, featured eight men's teams, six women's teams and three physical disability teams, was one of the exhibition sports for the 2018 Commonwealth Games and was in support of the bid for rugby league nines to be a full medal event at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. The Sunshine Coast is a peri-urban region in South East Queensland, Australia. Sunshine Coast Stadium
Sunshine Coast Stadium is a multi-sport venue located at Kawana Waters on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. The stadium is the main venue in a sporting precinct that also includes seven fields. Development Sunshine Coast Stadium was first expanded in 2007, at which time it became sponsored as Stockland Park. At the time, there were plans for the construction of a $22 million, 3,700 seat grandstand which would have allowed for the playing of both rectangular and oval based sports. However, following the withdrawal of State Government funds, the project was cancelled and plans were drawn up for a more modest stadium to be built on the site. The 2008 Women's Rugby League World Cup was the third staging of the Women's Rugby League World Cup since its inauguration in 2000, and the first since the 2003 tournament. The tournament was held in Australia from 6 November, culminating in the final between Australia and New Zealand on 15 November. It was held at Stockland Park alongside the Police World Cup.
