Tom Poitras
Tom Poitras is an American soccer coach and is currently the head men's soccer coach at Northern Kentucky University, a position he's held since 2022. Playing career Poitras played collegiate soccer at Southern Connecticut State University. During the 1987 season he was part of the division II national championship team. Coaching career New Haven From 1994 to 1997, he coached at the University of New Haven where he compiled a 38–32–5 record. Southern New Hampshire From 1998 to 2003, he served as the head men's soccer coach at Southern New Hampshire University where he posted an 81–25–16 record. His team advanced to four NCAA tournaments, and compiled five 10 win seasons. UW Green Bay His 2009 squad went 14–3–3, and reached the NCAA tournament for the first time in 26 years. The 2011 NCAA Division I men's soccer season was the 53rd year of organized men's college soccer in the United States. The season was divided into three parts; the regular season, which started with early season tournaments against intraconference opponents, before the second half of the regular season that featured interconference matches. The America East Conference is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with NCAA Division I founded in 1979, whose members are located in the Northeastern United States. The conference has nine core members including eight public research universities, three of which, the University of Maine, the University of New Hampshire, and the University of Vermont, are the flagship universities of their states. The two non-flagship university centers of the State University of New York are in the conference: the University at Albany and Binghamton University. NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship
The NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship is the annual tournament held by the NCAA to determine the top men's Division II college soccer program in the United States. It has been played annually since 1972; prior to then, all teams competed in a single class. The most successful program has been Southern Connecticut State, with six national titles. The current champion are Franklin Pierce, who won their first national title in 2022, defeating CSU Pueblo, 2–0, in the final. Format The Division II tournament is structured around four unbalanced Super Regionals from the eight NCAA regions (Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast, and West).
