Tom Cochrane
Thomas William Cochrane ( ; born May 14, 1953) is a Canadian singer-songwriter and musician best known as the frontman for the rock band Red Rider and for his work as a solo singer-songwriter. Cochrane has won eight Juno Awards. He is a member of the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, an officer of the Order of Canada, and has an honorary doctorate from Brandon University. In September 2009, he was inducted onto Canada's Walk of Fame. Life and career Early life Cochrane was born in the mining town of Lynn Lake, Manitoba. His father was a bush pilot. When he was four years old, he and his family moved to Acton, Ontario and then to Etobicoke (present-day Toronto). Red Rider After meeting at the El Mocambo tavern in Toronto, Cochrane joined the Canadian rock band Red Rider in 1978 and served as their lead singer and main songwriter for more than ten years. Red Rider, later known as Tom Cochrane & Red Rider, is a Canadian rock band popular in the 1980s. While they achieved significant success in Canada, the band never had a song in the top 40 in the United States, although " Lunatic Fringe" from their second album, 1981's '' As Far as Siam'', became popular on US album-oriented rock radio. Lynn Lake is a town in the northwest region of Manitoba, Canada, approximately from Winnipeg. The town is the fourth-largest town in Manitoba in terms of land area. The album was named for Ragged Ass Road, a street in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. ''Mad Mad World'' is the second studio album by Canadian rock singer Tom Cochrane, originally released in 1991 in Canada and in the United States on February 17, 1992. The first single from the album, "Life Is a Highway", became a hit in late 1991, reaching number one in Canada and number six on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in the United States. "Life Is a Highway" is a song by Canadian musician Tom Cochrane from his second studio album, '' Mad Mad World'' (1991). The song became a number-one hit in Canada in late 1991. "Life Is a Highway" also peaked at number six on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart in August 1992 and reached the top two in Australia and New Zealand the same year. The song was covered by Chris LeDoux for his 1998 album ''One Road Man'' and Rascal Flatts in 2006 for the ''Cars'' soundtrack. Bruce Allen (manager)
Bruce Allen is a Canadian music band manager who has represented a number of popular Canadian musicians including Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Jann Arden, Anne Murray, Bryan Adams, Prism, Loverboy and Michael Bublé. He also manages music producer Bob Rock and American rock band The Offspring. In 1985, Allen spearheaded the charity supergroup Northern Lights, who recorded the song " Tears Are Not Enough" in support of Ethiopian famine relief. Allen hosted SoundOff, a popular call-in talk show on 99.3 CFOX-FM in Vancouver for much of the 1990s. He now does a daily commentary for CKNW's talk radio show called Reality Check. Kenneth "Spider" Sinnaeve (born May 2, 1954) is a Canadian musician. He was a founding member of the popular Canadian band Streetheart, and since 2001 has been a member of Loverboy, replacing late bassist Scott Smith. Steve Sexton is a Canadian composer, arranger, musical director, producer and keyboardist. He served as Canadian singer Anne Murray's Musical Director for 25 years with responsibilities as her pianist, conductor, arranger, and on occasion her producer. Early career Sexton was born in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada. He graduated from Richmond Hill High School and received a music degree from The University of Western Ontario and a performance degree from the Western Ontario Conservatory of Music. Jeff Jones (bassist)
Jeffrey Robin Jones (born September 20, 1953) is an American-Canadian bassist who was a member of Ocean and is a member of Red Rider. Career Jones performed with Alex Lifeson and John Rutsey in the first incarnation of Rush, serving as the primary singer and bassist in the summer of 1968. He was replaced by Geddy Lee in September 1968 before their second performance, after wanting to go to a party. He first gained fame as a member of the gospel rock band Ocean, which recorded a million-selling 1971 single of Gene MacLellan's "Put Your Hand in the Hand". The group disbanded in 1975. Jones later joined Red Rider, performing bass on their 1981 hit "Lunatic Fringe", and still performs with leader Tom Cochrane. He also works on videos showing Eastwood basses. Ken Greer
Kenneth William Greer (born 25 July 1954) is a Canadian guitarist and keyboardist. He is one of the founding members of the Canadian rock band Red Rider. Biography Greer is the youngest of seven children born into a musical family in Toronto, Ontario. He grew up in the North Toronto area. He played the pedal steel guitar. After a Red Rider hiatus during most of the 1990s, Greer was involved in numerous musical projects including Big Faith, Hunter-Greer and Gowan. Currently he still tours as Tom Cochrane and Red Rider, playing guitar, pedal steel and keyboards. He also started touring with the Canadian country band The Road Hammers in 2005 and still joins them when available.
