Tom (1973 Film)
''The Bad Bunch'', originally released as ''Tom'', is an American 1973 blaxploitation drama film directed by and co-starring Greydon Clark. Plot The film is a study of prejudice and discrimination. It tells the story of a black gang who run the streets of Watts and of Jim, a white man, who tries to befriend them. Prejudice stands in the way of any friendship and turns black against white in a mid '70s, does much to show how society has progressed, but to some it may seem that "the more things change, the more they stay the same." Release The film was released theatrically in the United States by Four Star International in 1973 and re-released by Dimension Pictures in 1976. The title was changed to ''Nigger Lover'' in some markets. Greydon Clark would explore racial themes further in his subsequent films ''Black Shampoo'' (1976) and ''Skinheads'' (1989). Greydon Clark
Greydon Clark (born February 7, 1943) is an American screenwriter, director, producer, and actor. His career spans several decades and genres, although the majority of his work has been low-budget productions in the action/horror genres. His most recent work was writing and directing the 1998 science fiction film ''Stargames'' (also seen written as ''Star Games''), in which he was also featured. Between 1969 and 1989, Clark acted in a series of action/horror films, including '' Satan's Sadists'', '' The Mighty Gorga'', '' Hell's Bloody Devils'', '' Dracula vs. Frankenstein'', and ''Psychic Killer''. ''Hi-Riders'' is a 1978 action film written and directed by Greydon Clark. Plot Mark and Lynn are drawn into acts of hatred and revenge after trying to collect on a bet with a drag-racing car club known for "jacking up" the rears of their cars much higher than stock. When a local hothead challenges the club to a race, both drivers are killed in a spectacular explosion. The local boy's father vows revenge. In American cinema, Blaxploitation is the film subgenre of action movie derived from the exploitation film genre in the early 1970s, consequent to the combined cultural momentum of the black civil rights movement, the black power movement, and the Black Panther Party, political and sociological circumstances that facilitated black artists reclaiming their power of the representation of the black ethnic identity in the arts. The term ''blaxploitation'' is a portmanteau of the words ''Black'' and ''exploitation'', coined by Junius Griffin, president of the Beverly Hills–Hollywood branch of the NAACP in 1972. In criticizing the Hollywood portrayal of the multiracial society of the US, Griffin said that the ''blaxploitation'' genre was "proliferating offenses" to and against the black community, by perpetuating racist stereotypes of inherent criminality. ''Skinheads'' is a 1989 American thriller film, directed, written and produced by Greydon Clark. It is Clark's third film to deal with racial themes, after '' The Bad Bunch'' (1973) and ''Black Shampoo'' (1976). Plot A group of neo-Nazi skinheads violently rob a Jewish grocery. After they flee the scene of the crime, they stop at a roadside diner where they encounter some traveling students. The neo-Nazis terrorize the students and the owner of the diner, leaving two survivors who escape to the nearby Colorado mountains. The neo-Nazis give chase but are met with opposition when a World War II veteran living in the woods comes to the aid of the students. Aldo Ray (born Aldo Da Re; September 25, 1926 – March 27, 1991) was an American actor of film and television. He began his career as a contract player for Columbia Pictures before achieving stardom through his roles in '' The Marrying Kind, Pat and Mike'' (which earned him a Golden Globe nomination), '' Let's Do It Again,'' and ''Battle Cry.''
