Toše Proeski
Todor "Toše" Proeski (, ; 25 January 1981 – 16 October 2007) was a Macedonian singer and songwriter. Considered a top act of the local Music of North Macedonia, Macedonian and Balkan music, Balkan music scene, Proeski's music was popular across multiple countries in Southeast Europe. He was dubbed the "Elvis Presley of the Balkans" by BBC News. Skopje
Skopje ( , ; ; , sq-definite, Shkupi) is the capital and largest city of North Macedonia. It lies in the northern part of the country, in the Skopje Basin, Skopje Valley along the Vardar River, and is the political, economic, and cultural center of the country. Slavianski Bazaar
The International Festival of Arts "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk", also known as Slavic Bazaar, is an annual festival held in Vitebsk, Belarus under the auspices of the Belarusian Government since 1992. Its main program is devoted to Slavic music. The main participants are artists from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, countries of the former Yugoslavia, Poland, and Bulgaria with guests from many other countries, both Slavic and non-Slavic. A vocal competition is taking place within the framework of the festival. There is also a children's music competition. A special award "Through Art – to Peace and Understanding" is awarded at the festival; the names of the award winners are immortalized on the "Square of Stars" in Vitebsk. Macedonia was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2000 with the song "" , written by Dragan Karanfilovski, Orče Zafirovski, and Vlado Janevski, and performed by the group XXL. The Macedonian participating broadcaster, Macedonian Radio Television (MRT), organised the national final '' Skopje Fest 2000'' to select its entry for the contest. Karolina Gočeva
Karolina Gočeva (, ; born 28 April 1980), sometimes credited as Karolina Gocheva or known only as Karolina, is a Macedonian singer. She launched her music career in 1991 with a performance at a local children's show and continued participating in the following years, receiving recognition for her talent. In 1992, she released her first children album titled ''Mamo, pušti me'' (). She signed a contract with the record label Avalon Production in 2000. Gočeva's discography consists of a total of nine studio albums, spanning pop, R&B, rock, traditional folk and ethno, jazz and world musical styles. North Macedonia has been represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 21 times since its official debut in . The country had attempted to participate in 1996, but failed to qualify from the audio-only qualifying round. Grigor Koprov
Grigor Koprov (; born September 30, 1943, Ohrid, Kingdom of Bulgaria) is a Macedonian pop music composer, who also had an important impact on the Yugoslav music scene. He has worked with many stars like Toše Proeski, Vlado Janevski, Marjan Stojanovski, Martin Vučić, Karolina Gočeva, Andrijana Janevska and Robert Vukelić Biography In 1997 he composed the song "Ne Zori Zoro" with which Vlado Janevski represented Republic of Macedonia at the Eurovision Song Contest 1998, the first contest for the Republic. Ohrid Fest
Ohridski Trubaduri - Ohrid Fest is a music festival that takes place in Ohrid, North Macedonia every summer. It began in 1994 as a showcase for Macedonian summer folklore. In 1997, a pop evening was introduced to motivate Macedonian lyricists and composers, as well as artists. In 2003, an international evening was added to the program, which consists of foreign artists performing their songs along with the best placed songs from the pop evening. The festival has become prominent within the Balkan region which led to its broadcast in different countries such as Bulgaria, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Greece. The winners of the festival are awarded with a monetary prize as well as promotional products from the sponsors. In 2008, a fourth night was added to the festival in which amateur or unrecognized singers would compete to qualify for the pop evening.
