Thomas Nilsson (Swedish Air Force Officer)
Lieutenant General Ulf ''Thomas'' Nilsson (born 1 October 1963) is a Swedish Air Force officer. He currently serves as the Director of Military Intelligence and Security from 1 May 2023. Prior to that Nilsson served as the Chief Information Officer of the Swedish Armed Forces from 2020 to 2022. Career Nilsson graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1984. The first ten years of his career he served as fighter controller in various positions in the 101st and the 172nd Air Surveillance and Control Battalion. After graduation from the Advanced Command Course at the Swedish National Defence College in 1999, he served in various staff positions at the Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters in Stockholm. During the first Swedish Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2001, he worked with support to the Permanent Representation of Sweden to the EU. Michael Claesson
Michael Claesson (born 1 March 1965) is a Swedish Army officer. He currently serves as the Chief of Defence (Sweden), Chief of Defence since 1 October 2024. Claesson began his military career in 1984 as a tank commander. He advanced through various positions, including instructor and company commander, while completing education at military institutions in Sweden and Germany. By 2001, he became a lieutenant colonel, serving in both national and international roles, including as a military adviser and representative to NATO and the EU.
