Theatre War
The Theatre War (), Cowberry War, Cranberry War or Lingonberry War (, ), was a brief war between Denmark–Norway and Sweden, starting on 24 September 1788, formally lasting until 9 July 1789. Although the decision to launch the attack was taken in Denmark, the majority of the attacking soldiers were Norwegians from the Norwegian army. The attack was directed towards the region known as Bohuslän in Sweden, and was supposed to act as a diversion to relieve Russia, who was an ally of Denmark–Norway and had recently been attacked by Sweden (Gustav III's Russian War). This forced Denmark–Norway to honour their alliance between the two states that had been signed in 1773. ''Theater of War'' is a 2008 documentary film directed by John Walter. The film uses the rehearsal process of a play production as a lens through which to investigate German playwright Bertolt Brecht's ideas on theater, politics, and war. The chosen production is a 2006 staging of ''Mother Courage and Her Children'' staged by The Public Theater in New York's Central Park, the production starred Meryl Streep and Kevin Kline, and was directed by George C. Wolfe. ''Theater of War'' premiered at the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival, and went on to show in the same year at the Rome Film Festival, Provincetown International Film Festival, Silverdocs, Seattle International Film Festival, and Traverse City Film Festival. Justin Richards
Justin Richards (born 14 September 1961) is a British writer. He has written science fiction and fantasy novels, including series set in Victorian or early-20th-century London, and also adventure stories set in the present day. He has written many spin-off novels, reference books and audio plays based on the long-running BBC science fiction television series ''Doctor Who'', and he is Creative Consultant for the BBC Books range of ''Doctor Who'' novels. Life Richards was born in Epping, Essex, on 14 September 1961. After attending Dean Close School in Cheltenham he obtained a BA (Hons) in English and Theatre at the University of Warwick. As well as his literary career, Richards has worked as a technical writer, editor, programmer, and user interface designer at IBM, and as an errand boy in a hotel. The War of the Theatres is the name commonly applied to a controversy from the later Elizabethan theatre; Thomas Dekker termed it the ''Poetomachia''. Because of an actual ban on satire in prose and verse publications in 1599 (the Bishops' Ban of 1599), the satirical urge had no other remaining outlet than the stage.
