The Shutov Assembly
''The Shutov Assembly'' is the twelfth solo studio album by Brian Eno, released on 10 November 1992 on Opal via Warner Bros. Records. One of Eno's ambient music, ambient albums, it was reissued in 2014 with a second disc with bonus tracks. It is considered the follow-up to ''Nerve Net'', which was released that same year. Overview The album is dedicated to Russian artist Sergei Shutov, and was created as an assembly of tracks for him, as he had mentioned to Eno the difficulty he had of getting Eno's music in the then-communist Russia. Brian Eno
Brian Peter George Jean-Baptiste de la Salle Eno (, born 15 May 1948), also mononymously known as Eno, is an English musician, songwriter, record producer, visual artist, and activist. He is best known for his pioneering contributions to ambient music and electronica, and for producing, recording, and writing works in rock music, rock and pop music. A self-described "non-musician", Eno has helped introduce unconventional concepts and approaches to contemporary music. He has been described as one of popular music's most influential and innovative figures. In 2019, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Roxy Music. Born in Suffolk, Eno studied painting and experimental music at the art school of Ipswich Civic College in the mid-1960s, and then at Winchester School of Art. Sergei Alekseyevich Shutov (also spelled Sergey; Russian: ''Сергей Алексеевич Шутов'', born 1955) is a Russian artist active in painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, and audio- and video installations. He lives and works in Moscow. He was born in Potsdam, then East Germany. He is a member of numerous arts organizations in Russia, including the Hermitage Association and the Mayakovsky Friends' club. Since 1993 he has served as president of the Institute of Technology of Art, and since 1994 he has been the Practical Work Supervisor at Moscow Arts Laboratory New Media. He has worked in the Pushkin Museum, the Museum of the East, and the Moscow Zoo, and read lectures at the Moscow Planetarium. He has worked as a radio DJ (for Stantsiya 106.8) and was the first VJ in Russia, an artist for the magazine Ptyuch, and an actor and artist for the film ''Assa''. ''Thursday Afternoon'' is the tenth solo studio album by English musician Brian Eno, released in October 1985 on EG Records. Consisting of one eponymous 60-minute composition, it is the rearranged soundtrack to an 80-minute video production of the same title made in 1984. Background Since recording ''Discreet Music'' in 1975, Eno had shown a strong interest in creating music that can influence the atmosphere of the space in which it is played, rather than be focused on directly. The ''Thursday Afternoon'' video was conceived as a series of seven "video paintings" which can be looked at in passing without demanding full attention from the viewer. Each of the segments depicts simple imagery that has been treated with visual effects, much in the same way as Eno's music is often made up of simple instrumental performances that have been treated with audio effects. Riverside Studios is an arts centre on the north bank of the River Thames in Hammersmith, London, England. The venue plays host to contemporary performance, film, visual art exhibitions and television production. Having opened in May 1976, the original building closed for redevelopment in September 2014. Alhóndiga is a municipality located in the province of Guadalajara, Castilla–La Mancha, Spain. As of 1 January 2022 it had a registered population of 158. The municipality spans across a total area of 19.26 km2. The locality was an early instance of Hospitaller settlement south of the Sistema Central, and it was granted a '' fuero'' in 1170.
