Kirkintilloch Rob Roy Football Club are a Scottish football club based in the town of Kirkintilloch, East Dunbartonshire. Nicknamed ''The Rabs'' or ''The Roy'', they were formed in 1878. They wear red and black hoops and currently compete in the . History They are named after a defunct curling club which bore the same name, formed in 1855. The well-known footballer Chic Charnley had a spell playing for ''The Rabs'' as did ex-Rangers defender Marvin Andrews. The Rabs have had many famous names playing for them – Joe McBride, Stevie Chalmers, George Young, Andy Lynch and Andy Ritchie. The Rabs also featured in the very first televised Scottish Junior Cup Final on STV when they played Kilbirnie Ladeside in the 1977 final at Hampden Park, Glasgow, in front of a crowd of 11,476. Kirkintilloch
Kirkintilloch (; ; ) is a town and a Burgh of Barony (The Baron of Kirkintilloch) in East Dunbartonshire, Scotland. It lies on the Forth and Clyde Canal and on the south side of Strathkelvin, about northeast of central Glasgow. Historically part of Dunbartonshire, the town is the administrative home of East Dunbartonshire council area, its population in 2009 was estimated at 19,700 and its population in 2011 was 19,689. Toponymy "Kirkintilloch" comes from the Gaelic ''Cair Cheann Tulaich'' or ''Cathair Cheann Tulaich'', meaning "fort at the end of the hill". This, in turn, may come from a Cumbric name, ''Caer-pen-taloch'', which has the same meaning. A possible reference to the site is made in the 9th century Welsh text Historia Brittonum, in which the Antonine Wall is said to end at 'Caerpentaloch'. Shotts is a small town in North Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is located almost halfway between Glasgow () and Edinburgh (). The town has a population of about 8,840. The River Kelvin () is a tributary of the River Clyde in northern and northeastern Glasgow, Scotland. It rises on the moor south east of the village of Banton, Scotland, Banton, east of Kilsyth. Cumbernauld United Football Club are a football club based in Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire, Scotland. They play at Guy's Meadow in the Cumbernauld Village area of the town. Formed in 1964, they currently compete in the , having previously played in the SJFA West Region before moving to the senior pyramid in 2020. The 2014–15 West of Scotland Super League Premier Division was the thirteenth Super League Premier Division competition since the formation of the Scottish Junior Football Association, West Region in 2002.
