The Poker Player's Championship
The Poker Players Championship is a $50,000 buy-in (poker), buy-in event at the World Series of Poker (WSOP). Added in the 2010 World Series of Poker, 2010, it replaced the former $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. World Championship as the highest-stakes Poker glossary#mixed games, mixed-games event. It is considered among the most prestigious events on offer at the WSOP. In the game of poker, the play largely centers on the act of betting, and as such, a protocol has been developed to speed up play, lessen confusion, and increase security while playing. Different games are played using different types of bets, and small variations in etiquette exist between cardrooms, but for the most part the following rules and protocol are observed by the majority of poker players. Procedure Players in a poker game act in turn, in clockwise rotation (acting out of turn can negatively affect other players). 2023 World Series Of Poker
The 2023 World Series of Poker was the 54th edition of the World Series of Poker (WSOP), a series of poker tournaments. It took place from May 30 – July 17 at the Horseshoe Las Vegas and Paris Las Vegas in Las Vegas, Nevada. The series featured 95 bracelet events, plus another 20 online bracelet events. Events included the $1,000 Mystery Millions beginning on May 31, with mystery bounties of up to $1 million. There were also Badugi and Big O events for the first time, as well as a $300 Gladiators of Poker event. The Tournament of Champions also returned, this time near the beginning of the series. The $10,000 Main Event began on July 3 with the first of four starting flights. The final table was held over two days on July 16–17. John Hennigan (poker Player)
John L. Hennigan (born August 10, 1969) is an American professional poker player from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, who, in his career, has won seven World Series of Poker bracelets and a World Poker Tour (WPT) title. Hennigan is nicknamed "Johnny World" because he is willing to bet on anything in the world. World Series of Poker Hennigan finished 19th in the 1999 World Series of Poker (WSOP) $10,000 no limit hold'em main event. In April 2002 he made the final table of the WSOP $1,500 seven-card stud event and won his first bracelet just four days later in the $2,000 H.O.R.S.E. event, taking home the $117,320 first prize after defeating a final table including Men Nguyen and Phil Ivey. 2014 WSOP
The 2014 World Series of Poker is the 45th annual World Series of Poker (WSOP). It was held at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Paradise, Nevada, USA, between May 27 – July 14, 2014. There were 65 bracelet events, culminating in the $10,000 No Limit Hold'em Main Event beginning on July 5. The November Nine concept returned for a seventh year, with the Main Event finalists returning on November 10. For the first time, the Main Event had a guaranteed $10 million first prize. 2018 WSOP
The 2018 World Series of Poker (WSOP) is the 49th annual tournament, and took place from May 30 to July 17 at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. There was a record 78 bracelet events. The $10,000 No Limit Hold'em Main Event began on July 2 and concluded on July 15. The Main Event, as well as the Big One for One Drop, were again streamed in their entirety on ESPN and Poker Central. The 2018 World Series of Poker featured the announced retirement of ten-time bracelet winner and Poker Hall of Fame member Doyle Brunson from tournament poker, an announcement that came after he registered for the $10,000 No Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw Championship (Event 23). Daniel Cates (born November 14, 1989) also known as jungleman12 or w00ki3z. is a professional poker player from the United States, once considered to be one of the best heads-up No Limit Texas Hold 'em players in the world. By 2014, his online cash game earnings at Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars was over . In 2010, he won over $5 million, making him the biggest winner for the year. Personal life Cates was born and raised in Bowie, Maryland, and began playing poker at the age of 17. Omaha hold 'em (also known as Omaha holdem or simply Omaha) is a community card poker game similar to Texas hold 'em, where each player is dealt four cards and must make their best hand using exactly two of them, plus exactly three of the five community cards. Seven-card Stud
Seven-card stud, also known as Seven-Toed Pete or Down-The-River, is a variant of stud poker. Before the 2000s surge of popularity of Texas hold 'em, seven-card stud was one of the most widely played poker variants in home games across the United States and in casinos in the eastern part of the country. Although seven-card stud is not as common in casinos today, it is still played online. The game is commonly played with two to eight players; however, eight may require special rules for the last cards dealt if no players fold. Playing with nine players is possible. In casino play, it is common to use a small ante and bring-in. In home games, using only an ante is typical. Seven-card stud is the "S" game in HORSE and similar mixed game formats. Razz (poker)
Razz is a form of stud poker that is normally played for ace-to-five low (lowball poker). It is one of the oldest forms of poker, and has been played since the start of the 20th century. It emerged around the time people started using the 52-card deck instead of 20 for poker. The object of Razz is to make the lowest possible five-card hand from the seven cards you are dealt. In Razz, straights and flushes do not count against the player for low, and the ace always plays low. Thus, the best possible Razz hand is 5-4-3-2-A, or 5 high, also known as "the wheel" or "the bicycle". Deuce-to-seven Razz is also sometimes played (the best possible hand is 2-3-4-5-7).
