The Missing Frame
"The Missing Frame" is a song by American rock band AFI. It was released as the third single from their seventh studio album ''Decemberunderground'', impacting radio on February 27, 2007. The song peaked at number 17 on the Alternative Songs chart. In an interview with ''Kerrang!'' magazine, Davey Havok noted that this was the only song on the album that has 'whoa's on it (seeming to forget the 'whoa's on " Prelude 12/21" and "Miss Murder"), also noting the lack of 'whoa's on their 2003 album, '' Sing the Sorrow''. Havok describes the song as proto-punk as well as saying that the song has "some definite U2 moments to it." AFI (abbreviation for A Fire Inside) is an American Rock music, rock band from Ukiah, California, formed in 1991. Since 1998, it consists of lead vocalist Davey Havok, drummer and backing vocalist Adam Carson, bassist, backing vocalist and keyboardist Hunter Burgan, and guitarist, backing vocalist and keyboardist Jade Puget. Havok and Carson are the sole remaining original members. Originally a hardcore punk band, they have since delved into many genres, starting with horror punk and following through post-hardcore and emo into alternative rock and gothic rock. "Prelude 12/21" is the first song on AFI's seventh album ''Decemberunderground'', written by Hunter Burgan, Adam Carson, David Paden Marchand, and Jade Puget, released in 2006. The song has a secret beginning if the CD is rewound twenty seconds before it starts. An altered version of the song was mixed with " Miss Murder" for inclusion in the director's cut of its music video. The number in the song title, '12/21', could be a reference to December 21, the winter solstice, which has the longest night of the year. In addition to being the first track on ''Decemberunderground'' and the fact that the title contains the word "prelude", it is often used as an opener at AFI shows. Proto-punk (or protopunk) is rock music from the 1960s to mid-1970s that foreshadowed the punk rock genre and movement. ''Sing the Sorrow'' is the sixth studio album by American rock band AFI. Recorded at Cello Studios in Los Angeles, California between 2002 and 2003, the album was produced by Jerry Finn and Butch Vig. It was the band's final release under the Nitro Records label. ''Sing the Sorrow'' received acclaim from music critics, who praised its melodies and musicianship, as well as its mature sound in comparison to the band's previous material. The album sold 96,000 copies in its first week of release in the United States, reaching number 5 on the ''Billboard'' 200, and also charted in Canada and the United Kingdom.
