"The Many Saints of Springfield" is the thirteenth episode of the The Simpsons season 34, thirty-fourth season of the American animated television series ''The Simpsons'', and the 741st episode overall. It aired in the United States on Fox Broadcasting Company, Fox on February 19, 2023. The episode was directed by Bob Anderson (director), Bob Anderson and written by series showrunner Al Jean. In this episode, Ned Flanders goes to work for Fat Tony, but his life turns perilous after he learns what Fat Tony does. Paul Fusco guest starred. The episode received mixed reviews. The episode was dedicated in memory of David Crosby, who appeared in "Marge in Chains" and "Homer's Barbershop Quartet." Bob Anderson is an American animation director on ''The Simpsons''. He also contributed additional sequence direction on ''The Simpsons Movie''. After high school, Bob Anderson enrolled at the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art to pursue an education in animation. Before Bob graduated from the Joe Kubert School, he began his professional career. Hired by Broadcast Arts in New York City, he started work on a variety of commercials. In 1990, Anderson moved to Los Angeles to work as an assistant director for ''The Simpsons''. ''The Many Saints of Newark'' (marketed with the subtitle ''A Sopranos Story'') is a 2021 American crime drama film directed by Alan Taylor and written by David Chase and Lawrence Konner.
