The Joker (comic Book)
''The Joker'' is a comic book series published by DC Comics starring the supervillain the Joker. It ran for nine issues from May–June 1975 to September–October 1976, with a tenth previously unpublished issue released in October 2019. In 2021, it was relaunched as part of DC's ''Infinite Frontier'' relaunch following '' Dark Nights: Death Metal'' conclusion. Publication history Dennis O'Neil, who wrote the first issue of the series, recounted that "I stopped by Julie chwartz, ''Batman'' editors office, and he said, 'We're going to do a Joker book'. I know that alarms went off, I could sense the problems that such a thing would entail...but it was a job". The series was launched in May 1975 by O'Neil and artist Irv Novick. Dick Giordano
Richard Joseph Giordano (; July 20, 1932 – March 27, 2010) was an American comics artist and editor whose career included introducing Charlton Comics' "Action Heroes" stable of superheroes and serving as executive editor of DC Comics. Early life Dick Giordano, an only child, was born in New York City on July 20, 1932, in the borough of Manhattan to Josephine Labruzzi and Graziano "Jack" Giordano. He attended the School of Industrial Art. Career Charlton Comics Beginning as a freelance artist at Charlton Comics in 1952, Giordano contributed artwork to dozens of the company's comics, including such Western titles as '' Annie Oakley'', '' Billy the Kid'', and '' Wyatt Earp'', the war comic '' Fightin' Army'', and scores of covers. Julius Schwartz
Julius "Julie" Schwartz ( ; June 19, 1915 – February 8, 2004) was an American comic book editor, and a science fiction agent. He was born in The Bronx, New York. He is best known as a longtime editor at DC Comics, where at various times he was primary editor over the company's flagship superheroes, Superman and Batman. He was inducted into the comics industry's Jack Kirby Hall of Fame in 1996 and the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 1997. Early life Born on June 19, 1915, to Romanian-Jewish parents Joseph and Bertha who emigrated from a small town outside Bucharest, Romania. Julius and his parents resided at 817 Cauldwell Avenue in the Bronx. He graduated at age seventeen from Theodore Roosevelt High School in the Bronx. Career In 1932, Schwartz co-published (with Mort Weisinger and Forrest J. Ackerman) '' Time Traveller'', one of the first science fiction fanzines. Black Canary
Black Canary is the name of two superheroines appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. As one of the earliest female superheroes in the DC Comics universe, the character has made numerous appearances in prominent team-up titles, including the ''Justice Society of America'' and Justice League, ''Justice League of America''. The Black Canary persona has been adopted by two individuals, portrayed as legacy heroes with a mother-daughter relationship between the two. Following DC's New 52 initiative, Black Canary was briefly Composite character, amalgamated as a single character before the mother-and-daughter dynamic was restored to continuity. Green Arrow
Green Arrow is a superhero who appears in American comic books published by DC Comics. Created by Mort Weisinger and designed by George Papp, he first appeared in ''More Fun Comics'' No. 73 on September 19, 1941 (cover dated November 1941), the same issue that debuted Aquaman. His secret identity, real name is Oliver Jonas Queen, a wealthy businessman, owner of Queen Industries, and a well-known celebrity in Star City (comics), Star City.
