South San Gabriel (band)
South San Gabriel is an American alternative country band based in Denton, Texas. History The band is named after the San Gabriel river fork north of Austin, Texas. The group consists of the same players from Centro-Matic with the inclusion of guests, but focuses on more introspective and subdued offerings from their repertoire. Lead singer Will Johnson, has alternated between the two projects, while also releasing solo albums. The first South San Gabriel album, '' Songs/Music'', was credited to Centro-Matic on its US release (it was credited to South San Gabriel on the Netherlands release on Munich Records). South San Gabriel released '' Welcome, Convalescence'' and ''The Carlton Chronicles – Not Until the Operation's Through'' in 2003 and 2005, respectively. Argyle, Texas
Argyle is a city in Denton County, Texas, Denton County, Texas, United States, with a population of 5,503 as of 2022. It is a suburb of Fort Worth. History The first European settlement, consisting of a few families, occurred in the Argyle area in the 1850s. The place was then known as Pilot Knob or Waintown. The settlement gradually acquired a few amenities in the late 1800s: a school in 1875, a Baptist church in 1876, and a post office in 1878. Matthew Louis Pence (born April 13, 1972) is an American recording engineer, producer, and drummer. He owns and manages The Echo Lab studio in Denton, Texas. Early life and education Pence is from St. Louis, Missouri. In 1990, Pence moved to Denton, Texas to study jazz at University of North Texas College of Music. Career In 1996, Pence did his first recording for a drummer friend on their record. In 1999, musician and mastering engineer Dave Willingham created The Echo Lab studio outside the woods in Denton, Texas. Centro-matic was an American band (music), band based in Denton, Texas. History Centro-matic started in 1995 as a side-project for Will Johnson (musician), Will Johnson. It released a few singles that year and grew into a full-fledged group in 1997.
