The Bill Series 4
The fourth series of ''The Bill'', a British television drama, consisted of forty-eight episodes, broadcast between 19 July and 29 December 1988. This series was the first to adopt a half-hour format, and the theme tune had its first of several updates. The making of every episode broadcast in 1988 is covered in the guidebook ''Witness Statements: Making The Bill'', featuring in-depth interviews with 60 cast and crew, production notes, locations, viewing figures and rare behind-the-scenes photographs. The series was first released on DVD on 4 December 2006 in Australia, incorrectly packaged as ''Seasons 4 & 5'', when in fact the set only contained the entire series four. The series was later issued in four separate volumes in the United Kingdom, available on 30 June 2008, 2 March 2009, 11 May 2009 and 15 March 2010. ITV (TV Network)
ITV is a British free-to-air public broadcast television network. It was launched in 1955 as Independent Television to provide competition to BBC Television (established in 1936). ITV is the oldest commercial network in the UK. Since the passing of the Broadcasting Act 1990, it has been legally known as Channel 3 to distinguish it from the other analogue channels at the time, BBC1, BBC2 and Channel 4. ITV was for four decades a network of separate companies which provided regional television services and also shared programmes between each other to be shown on the entire network. Mark Monero
Mark Monero (born 1968) is a British actor and musician. He has had various roles including parts in ''Babylon'', ''Wilt'', ''Prayer for the Dying'', ''Sid and Nancy'' and remains best known for his role as Steve Elliot in the BBC soap opera '' EastEnders'' (1991–96), although he has appeared in many other television and theatre roles. Alex McAvoy
Alex McAvoy (10 March 1928 – 16 June 2005) was a Scottish actor known for his roles as Sunny Jim in the BBC Scotland adaptation of Neil Munro's Para Handy stories, ''The Vital Spark'', and as the teacher in Pink Floyd's musical film, ''The Wall''. As a young man McAvoy enrolled at the School of Art in Glasgow's Renfrew Street before, in the 1950s, joining the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow. As a young actor he played the Citizens Theatre in Glasgow's Gorbals district alongside such future stars as John Cairney and Mary Marquis. In the earlier part of his career McAvoy ventured into variety and light entertainment and was the first foil to Scottish comedy singer Andy Stewart. Ronald Leigh-Hunt (5 October 1920 – 12 September 2005) was a British film and television actor. His father was a stockbroker and he attended the Italia Conti Academy. He began acting whilst serving in the army. Though never a major star, he appeared in over a hundred television and film productions over a forty-year period, including as King Arthur in ''The Adventures of Sir Lancelot'' in the mid-1950s, and '' General Hospital'' in the early 1970s. Richard Henry Beale (13 May 1920 – 27 March 2017) was a British actor. He had a long career in television, stage and film, dating back to the 1950s. Early years Born in Hackney, London, England, Beale was the son of Henry and Constance Beale. He served as a Lieutenant in the Royal Navy during the Second World War. Walter Leonard Sparrow (22 January 1927 – 31 May 2000) was an English film and television actor best known for his appearance as Duncan in the 1991 film '' Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves'' starring Kevin Costner. Tom Cotcher (born 28 July 1950) is a Scottish actor who played Alan Woods in ''The Bill'' from 1992 to 1996. He also appeared briefly in an earlier episode of the police drama (as did several of the cast) as a local resident with a missing dog.
