Texas–Louisiana League (Negro League)
The Central Baseball League, formerly the Texas–Louisiana League, was an independent baseball league whose member teams were not affiliated with any Major League Baseball (MLB) franchises. In 1991, potential owners, Dallas businessman Byron Pierce and U. S. Congressman John Bryant, became frustrated that the Texas League had no plans to expand into other Texas locations, and formed The Texas–Louisiana League. The league began play in 1994. After further expansion into Missouri and Mississippi, the Texas–Louisiana League changed its name to the Central Baseball League. In 12 seasons, the league produced 10 different champions; Alexandria and Edinburg were the only teams to win a title twice. After the 2005 season, the eight-team Central Baseball League disbanded. Edinburg Roadrunners
The Edinburg Roadrunners were a professional baseball team based in Edinburg, Texas, in the United States. The Roadrunners were a member of the United League Baseball, an independent professional league which is not affiliated with Major League Baseball or Minor League Baseball. They played in United League Baseball from 2006 to 2010 and the North American League from 2011 to 2012. They played their home games at Edinburg Stadium. The city refused to extend a lease for the 2014 season and with nowhere to play the team shut down. Pueblo Bighorns
The Pueblo Bighorns were a minor league baseball team which played in Pueblo, Colorado. They were a member of the Texas–Louisiana League, an expansion team owned and organized by the league's investors, and brought professional baseball back to Pueblo. They played the first half of their inaugural season, until financial difficulty, lack of corporate sponsorship and resulting poor fan attendance (due to the franchise's hasty organization) forced the Bighorns to disband. Lubbock Crickets
The Lubbock Crickets were the first minor league baseball team to play in Lubbock, Texas after a 39-year hiatus. The Crickets joined the Texas-Louisiana League in 1995 as the first team not known as the Lubbock Hubbers. The team was named after Buddy Holly's band, The Crickets. 1995 The Crickets started off strong, going 31-19 in the first half of '95 season. They fell to 22-28 in the second half, but then beat the Amarillo Dillas in the playoffs and the Alexandria Aces in the finals. The Crickets finished the '95 season with an overall record of 53-47, while also winning the league championship. Managed by Greg Minton, Lubbock had one All-Star, shortstop Rouglas Odor. Laredo Apaches
The Laredo Apaches were a minor league baseball team from Laredo, Texas that existed in two different incarnations: 1949-53 and again in 1995. History The original Apaches were one of the six charter franchises of the Class D Rio Grande Valley League in 1949, having been preceded in Laredo by the Laredo Bermudas of the Southwest Texas League (1910–1911) and the Laredo Oilers, who played as members of the Gulf Coast League in 1926 and Texas Valley League in 1927. In 1949, Laredo finished 80–60 in second place, and were eliminated by Brownsville in the playoffs. Jackson Senators
The Jackson Senators was the name of at least two minor league baseball teams that played in Jackson, Mississippi. First team The first known Jackson Senators club competed in the Delta League in 1904. In 1951, club president Emmet Vaughey announced that the club would be disbanded, after the dissolution of the Southeastern League. Jackson also played as a member of the Cotton States League before 1953. This was a class C minor-league club, and was the last team to represent the city of Jackson before the arrival of the class AA Jackson Mets for the 1975 season. The American Association of Professional Baseball is an independent professional baseball league founded in 2005. It operates in the central United States and Canada, mostly in cities not served by organized baseball (Major League Baseball teams or their minor league affiliates).
