Texas Rangers (baseball)
The Texas Rangers are an American professional baseball team based in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. The Rangers compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the American League (AL) American League West, West Division. The team was founded as the Washington Senators (1961–1971), Washington Senators in 1961, an expansion team awarded to Washington, D.C., after Washington Senators (1901–1960), its previous team became the Minnesota Twins. The new Senators relocated to Arlington, Texas after the season and debuted as the Rangers the following spring. In 2020, the Rangers moved to the new Globe Life Field after having played at Globe Life Park (now Choctaw Stadium) from 1994 to 2019. The team's name is derived from a historic Texas Ranger Division, law enforcement agency. The 1998 Texas Rangers season involved the Rangers finishing first in the American League West with a record of 88 wins and 74 losses. Bruce Douglas Bochy (; born April 16, 1955) is an American professional baseball Manager (baseball), manager and former catcher who is the manager of the Texas Rangers (baseball), Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball (MLB). The 2023 Texas Rangers season was the 63rd of the Texas Rangers franchise overall, their 52nd in Arlington as the Rangers, and the fourth season at Globe Life Field. It was also the team's first season under the management of Bruce Bochy. The Rangers had six players (five starters) named to the All-Star Game, a franchise record. The 2012 Texas Rangers season was the 52nd season in the overall history of the franchise and the 41st since the team relocated to Arlington, Texas. The Rangers entered the season as the two-time defending champions of the American League and the American League West. The 2016 Texas Rangers season was the Rangers' 56th season of the franchise in Major League Baseball (MLB), and the 45th since the team relocated to Arlington, Texas. The Rangers won the American League West title for the second straight season, with the best record in the American League. 2015 Texas Rangers Season
The 2015 Texas Rangers season was the Rangers' 55th season of the franchise and the 44th since the team relocated to Arlington, Texas. After a disastrous 2014 season in which the Rangers finished last in the entire American League and third worst in all of Major League Baseball (MLB), and despite starting the season with an 8–16 record and being under .500 as late as August 13, the Rangers would clinch the American League West title on the final day of the season.
