Texas's 11th Congressional District
Texas's 11th congressional district of the United States House of Representatives is in the midwestern portion of the state of Texas, stretching from the Permian Basin (North America), Permian Basin through the Texas Hill Country, Hill Country. Major cities in the district include: Andrews, Texas, Andrews, Midland, Texas, Midland, Odessa, Texas, Odessa, San Angelo, Killeen, Texas, Killeen, and Brownwood, Texas, Brownwood. The current Representative from the 11th district is Republican Party (United States), Republican August Pfluger. Texas has had at least 11 districts since 1883. The current configuration dates from the 2003 Texas redistricting; its first congressman, Mike Conaway, took office in 2005. It is one of the most Republican districts in the nation. Texas State Highway 11
State Highway 11 (SH 11) is a highway that runs from US 59 (Future I-369) in Linden to SH 56 in Sherman in northeast Texas. Route description SH 11 begins at an intersection with State Highway 56 on the easternedge of Sherman, just north of the Sherman Regional Airport. The route then travels to the southeast through Northeast Texas. In 2009, it was rerouted around the city of Commerce, concurrent with State Highway 24 and State Loop 178, with the old routing through Commerce transferred to a business route. It continues southeast toward Sulphur Springs, where it shares a concurrency with State Highway 154 and the old routing of US 67, and intersects I-30 on the south side of town. Barry Goldwater
Barry Morris Goldwater (January 2, 1909 – May 29, 1998) was an American politician and major general in the United States Air Force, Air Force Reserve who served as a United States senator from 1953 to 1965 and 1969 to 1987, and was the Republican Party (United States), Republican Party's nominee for president 1964 United States presidential election, in 1964. Goldwater was born in Phoenix, Arizona, where he helped manage his family's department store. During World War II, he flew aircraft between the U.S. and India. Eden, Texas
Eden is a city in Concho County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,100 at the 2020 United States census, 2020 census. The community is a rural trading center for agricultural products for the many large ranches and farms in West Texas. History The earliest settlers were the family of Harvey and Louisa McCarty. Frederick Ede and his family moved to the area around 1881. In 1882, Ede donated of land to be used as a townsite and to build a town square. The following year, a post office was established and was named "Eden", an adaptation of Frederick Ede's name. A school was established in 1885. Concho County, Texas
Concho County is a county located on the Edwards Plateau in the U.S. state of Texas. At the 2020 census, the population was 3,303. Its county seat is Paint Rock. The county was founded in 1858 and later organized in 1879. It is named for the Concho River. History In the 1800s, Paleo-Indians lived in the county and left behind archaeological remains of a burned-rock midden. Athabascan-speaking Indians associated with the pre-horse Plains culture live in this part of Texas. Later native inhabitants included Jumano, Tonkawa, Comanche and Lipan Apache. In 1847, John O. Coleman County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 7,684. The county seat is Coleman. The county was founded in 1858 and organized in 1864. Coke County is a county located on the Edwards Plateau in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 3,285. Its county seat is Robert Lee. Brown County is a county in west-central Texas. As of the 2020 census, the population was 38,095. Its county seat is Brownwood. The county was founded in 1856 and organized in 1858. It is named for Henry Stevenson Brown, a commander at the Battle of Velasco, an early conflict between Texians and Mexicans. Fort Cavazos is a United States Army post located near Killeen, Texas. The post is currently named after Gen. Richard E. Cavazos, a native Texan and the US Army’s first Hispanic four-star general. The post is located halfway between Austin and Waco, about from each, within the U.S. state of Texas. The post is the headquarters of III Armored Corps and First Army Division West and is home to the 1st Cavalry Division and 3rd Cavalry Regiment, among others.
