Tennis At The 2016 Summer Olympics – Men's Doubles
Spain's Marc López and Rafael Nadal defeated Romania's Florin Mergea and Horia Tecău in the final, 6–2, 3–6, 6–4 to win the gold medal in Men's Doubles tennis at the 2016 Summer Olympics. It was Spain's first victory in men's doubles and its first medal in the event since 2000. Romania won its first men's doubles medal. In the bronze-medal match, the United States' Steve Johnson and Jack Sock (unseeded) defeated Canada's Daniel Nestor and Vasek Pospisil, 6–2, 6–4. It was the United States' third consecutive medal in the event. The tournament was held at the Olympic Tennis Centre in the Barra Olympic Park in Barra da Tijuca in the west zone of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from 6–12 August 2016. Marc López Tarrés (, ; born 31 July 1982) is a Spanish tennis coach and a former professional player. His career-high ATP singles ranking was world No. 3 in doubles, achieved in January 2013 and No. 106, achieved in May 2004. Partnering with Feliciano López, Marc López won a major title at the 2016 French Open as well as the 2012 ATP Finals. Additionally, at the 2016 Rio Olympics, López won the gold medal in men's doubles for Spain partnering with Rafael Nadal.
