Ted O'Sullivan (hurler)
Ted O'Sullivan (24 February 1920 – 30 July 1968) was an Irish hurler. At club level he played with Midleton, Blackrock, St Finbarr's and Castlemartyr and was also a member of the Cork senior hurling team. Club career Born in Ballinacurra, County Cork, O'Sullivan first played hurling at juvenile and underage levels with the St Enda's club. He enjoyed his first success in 1938 when the club secured the Cork MHC title after a defeat of Seán Clárach's in the final. By that stage O'Sullivan had also joined the Midleton senior team and was full-forward when they suffered a defeat by Glen Rovers in the 1938 final. O'Sullivan spent two seasons with Blackrock after transferring to the club in 1941, before later transferring to St Finbarr's. His tenure with the southside club was a successful one with "the Barr's" claiming consecutive Cork SHC titles in 1942 and 1943. Midleton GAA
Midleton Hurling and Football Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Midleton, County Cork, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. The club is affiliated to the Imokilly GAA, East Cork Board and is primarily concerned with the game of hurling, but also fields teams in Gaelic football. History Located in the town of Midleton, about 16km from Cork (city), Cork, Midleton Football Club was formally affiliated to the newly-established Gaelic Athletic Association on 17 January 1885. The club had some early successes in winning consecutive Cork Senior Football Championship, Cork SFC titles in 1889 and 1890. The latter title was subsequently converted into a Munster Senior Football Championship, Munster SFC title, before Midleton beat the Wexford GAA, Wexford representatives in the 1890 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship final, 1890 All-Ireland final. 1938 Cork Senior Hurling Championship
The 1938 Cork Senior Hurling Championship was the 50th staging of the Cork Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 1887. The draw for the opening round fixtures took place at the Cork Convention on 30 January 1938. The championship began on 13 March 1938 and ended on 16 October 1938. Glen Rovers were the defending champions. On 16 October 1938, Glen Rovers won the championship following a 5–06 to 1–03 defeat of Midleton in the final. This was their fifth championship title and the fifth of eight successive championships. 1939 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship
The 1939 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 53rd staging of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1887. The championship began on 7 May 1939 and ended on 3 September 1939. Dublin entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were beaten by Kilkenny in the Leinster final. The All-Ireland final was played on 3 September 1939 at Croke Park in Dublin, between Kilkenny and Cork, in what was their first meeting in a final in nine years. Kilkenny won the match by 2–07 to 3–03 to claim their 12th championship title overall and a first title since 1935. The 1939 All-Ireland final remains one of the most iconic of all time. Played on the day that Britain declared war on Germany, the climax of the match took place during a terrific thunderstorm and earned the sobriquet of the "thunder and lightning final". Waterford GAA
The Waterford County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) () or Waterford GAA is one of the 32 County board (Gaelic games), county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for all levels of Gaelic games in County Waterford.
