Teatro Do Ginásio
The Teatro do Ginásio (18451952) was a theatre in Lisbon, Portugal that mainly concentrated on performances of comedy shows. Construction The Teatro do Ginásio was constructed on the modern-day Rua Nova da Trindade in the Chiado district of the Portuguese capital of Lisbon. It originally consisted of a simple shed, lacking in amenities, built in the grounds of the former Palace of Geraldes. The shed, owned by João Manuel da Mota, presented circuses and the first performance was given on 12 October 1845. A few months later some limited remodelling was carried out in order to permit the space to offer traditional theatre. It reopened on 16 May 1846. Maria Matos
Maria de Conceição de Matos Ferreira da Silva (29 September 1886 – 19 September 1952) was a Portuguese actress and theatre personality. Career Matos studied piano, singing and dramatic art at the Royal Conservatory of Lisbon, and for her final exam performed '' Rosas de Todo Ano'', written by Júlio Dantas. She debuted professionally at the D. Maria II National Theatre in the play ''Judas'' (1907). Palmira Bastos (1875–1967) was one of the best-known Portuguese stage actresses in the first half of the 20th century. Early life Maria da Conceição Martínez (Martins) de Sousa Bastos was born on 30 May 1875, in the municipality of Alenquer in the Lisbon District of Portugal. She was the third daughter of a couple of Spanish actors from a travelling company who were temporarily in Portugal. Amélia Lafourcade Schmidt Rey Colaço de Robles Monteiro (2 March 1898–8 July 1990) was one of the leading Portuguese actors of the first half of the 20th century. Lucinda Simões (18501928) was one of the most acclaimed Portuguese actors and theatre directors in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The former ''Teatro Lucinda'' in Rio de Janeiro was named after her. Early life Lucinda Augusta da Silva Borges was born on 17 December 1850 in the Portuguese capital of Lisbon. Maria das Dores (18431928) was a Portuguese actress who mainly worked in theatres in Lisbon. Early life Maria das Dores Costa Polla was born in the former parish of Socorro in the Portuguese capital of Lisbon on 11 June 1843.
