Tayla O'Brien
Tayla O'Brien (born 6 July 1994) is a New Zealand footballer who plays for NRFL Women's Premiership side Eastern Suburbs. She has represented New Zealand at senior and age group level. Club career O'Brien is Eastern Suburbs third all time top goal scorer. In 2022 she finished as the top scorer of the New Zealand Women's National League, as Eastern Suburbs won the final 4–0. International career O'Brien was called up to the New Zealand women's national football team for the first time in January 2023. O'Brien was one of three domestic players picked for the two game series against the United States along with Deven Jackson and Rebecca Lake. She made her debut as a second half substitute against the United States on 21 January 2023. Forward (association Football)
Forwards (also known as attackers) are outfield positions in an association football team who play the furthest up the pitch and are therefore most responsible for scoring goals as well as assisting them. As with any attacking player, the role of the forward relies heavily on being able to create space for attack. 2022 New Zealand Women's National League
The 2022 New Zealand Women's National League is the second scheduled season of the new National League since its restructuring in 2021; the 2021 National League was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic in northern regions. The 2022 season will be the twentieth season of national women's football and will be a hybrid season. 2021 New Zealand Women's National League
The 2021 New Zealand Women's National League was the first scheduled season of the new National League since its restructuring in 2021. It was the nineteenth scheduled season of national women's football and was planned as a hybrid season, with four teams from the NRFL Premier League representing the Northern Conference, Central Football and Capital Football representing the Central Conference, and Canterbury United Pride and Southern United representing the Southern Conference. New Zealand Football announced on the 14 September that they had decided to terminate the remainder of the Northern League season and cancel any yet to be played fixtures due to Covid-19 and Auckland being in Level 4. 2017 National Women's League (New Zealand)
The 2017 National Women's League was the fifteenth season of the NWL since its establishment in 2002. Seven teams were again involved in this season representing the different regions in New Zealand. The final was played between Canterbury United Pride and Auckland, it finished 1–1 at full time before Auckland won it in extra time 3–2. It was Aucklands sixth title and first since 2009. 2015 National Women's League (New Zealand)
The National League (previously known as the National Women's League) is the top-level women's football league in New Zealand. Unlike its male counterpart, the New Zealand National League, previously the teams were run by the regional federations rather than as collaborative entities between local clubs. This has changed for the 2021 season as New Zealand Football look to move it to club based football. The current season will see four teams qualify from the Northern League to join federation teams from Central Football, Capital Football, Canterbury United Pride and Southern United.
