Makuhari Messe
is a convention center in Chiba (city), Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture, Japan, located just outside of Tokyo. Designed by Fumihiko Maki, it is accessible by Transportation in Greater Tokyo#Railway and subway, Tokyo's commuter rail system. Taekwondo was a sport at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, and featured 128 taekwondo fighters competing in eight weight categories; four for men, and four for women. Qualification Taekwondo competition at these Games featured a total of 128 athletes, 64 males and 64 females, and 16 in each of the eight weight categories. Each National Olympic Committee (NOC) was allowed to enter up to one competitor per event, resulting in a maximum of eight competitors, four of each gender. Safwan Khalil (born 15 May 1986 in Tripoli, Lebanon) is a taekwondo athlete from Australia. He competed at the London Olympics in the 58 kg division, losing in a bronze medal match against Alexey Denisenko. Born in Tripoli, Lebanon, he has lived in Australia since he was a child, attending Lurnea High School in south-western Sydney and training at his brother's gym, Global Martial Arts. His brother Ali Khalil, is also his coach, and the Australian Olympic coach for 2012. Khalil is engaged to fellow Olympic taekwondo athlete Carmen Marton. The couple were married under Islamic law (but not under Australian civil law) prior to the London Olympics in 2012. Rui Pedro Rebelo Bragança (born 26th December 1991) is a Portuguese taekwondo practitioner who competes in the men's 58 kg (flyweight) category. Career Born in Guimarães, Bragança started practising taekwondo with 13 years old, when he joined a class at Vitória de Guimarães gym. Two years later; he won the Portuguese National Junior Championships, which led to a spot at the European Junior Championships in Baku, where he won the bronze medal.
