Tut.By was an independent news, media and service internet portal, one of the five most popular websites in Belarus, operating predominantly in Russian and partially in Belarusian languages, and the most popular news web portal in the country. After its owning company was closed down by the Minsk Economic Court in June 2022, its successor Zerkalo.io (meaning ''Mirror'') remains online . TUT.BY was based in Minsk, Belarus. In 2019, the website was read by 62.58% of all Belarusian Internet users with monthly visits rating around 200 million. Tut.By published around 200 articles on domestic and foreign agenda daily, including original stories and video, analytics, special projects, and online broadcasts. Marina Zolotova
Marina Zolotova () is a Belarusian journalist, chief editor of Tut.by media outlet since 2004. In 2021 she was arrested under charges of large-scale tax evasion; later political charges were added to her case. She is considered a political prisoner by the European Union, the United States of America, and numerous human rights defenders. On March 17, 2023, she was sentenced to 12 years in prison. Biography Early years and family Zolotova was born in Minsk in 1977. She graduated from BSU Philology department. Zolotova speaks Bulgarian. Yuri Zisser (, , June 28, 1960 – May 17, 2020) was a Belarusian programmer and entrepreneur, known as a founder and owner of TUT.by, the most visited Belarusian web portal. Biography Yuri Zisser was born in a Jewish family in Lviv, Ukraine and graduated from the North Western Polytechnic Institute in Leningrad. In 1987 he moved to Minsk, Belarus. In 1992 he established the company ''Nadezhnye programmy'' (). He has been one of the most frequent members of the jury of the social projects competition SocialWeekend. Julia Vissarionovna Chernyavskaya () is a Belarusian scientist, writer, dramatist, culturologist. She was a professor at Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts; Chernyavskaya also hosted cultural programs on Tut.by. She is the founder of GRAPHO, the largest Belarusian literary club, and a laureate of the National Belarusian Theatrical Award. She was married to Tut.by founder Yuri Zisser, though has not been involved in the management of the company. In 2021 she was arrested during a massive state crackdown on independent media. Belarus Solidarity Foundation BYSOL is a non-profit organization established on August 14, 2020, as a response to violence that happened in Belarus after the 2020 Belarusian presidential election. BYSOL is aimed at raising funds to provide financial aid to victims of repression in Belarus. History BYSOL was founded by Belarusians who were forced to leave the country because of the threat of repression. Its first office was located in Kyiv, Ukraine while the organization was registered in the Netherlands. Now, the organization consists of about 15 members, and the majority of them are located in Vilnius, Lithuania. After the team moved to Lithuania, the company was also registered there.
