Swimming At The 2019 World Aquatics Championships – Men's 200 Metre Freestyle
The Men's 200 metre freestyle competition at the 2019 World Championships was held on 22 and 23 July 2019. Sun Yang was the defending champion, and defended his title. Lithuania's Danas Rapšys finished first, but was disqualified for flinching just before the start. During the medal ceremony, Great Britain's Duncan Scott refused to shake hands with China's Sun Yang, with Sun Yang calling Scott a "loser" in response. Velimir Stjepanović (Serbian Cyrillic: Велимир Стјепановић; born 7 August 1993) is a Serbian professional swimmer currently representing DC Trident at the International Swimming League. He has won gold medals at the European Championships, European Short Course Championships and Mediterranean Games. Youth and Junior Career Born in Abu Dhabi, to Bosnian Serb parents, he chose to represent Serbia in the international swimming competitions. Early life He started in the ACEB team of Bahia where, under the command of Márcio Cunha and Luiz Arapiraca, he won the first medals from Mirim to Petiz I. Maarten Brzoskowski (born 19 September 1995) is a Dutch competitive swimmer of Polish origin who specializes in freestyle. He holds the Dutch records in both the long course and short course 400 meter freestyle events. His father's grandfather emigrated during World War I from Poland to the Netherlands.
