Star Awards (Chinese: 红星大奖) are awards for artistic and technical merit where Mediacorp recognises entertainers under their employment for outstanding performances of the year. The awards are given annually in a ceremony. The various category winners are awarded a trophy, with initial designs featuring various star shapes. The star was subsequently removed and the trophy is designed as an S-shaped column, depicting the star. History The first Star Awards presentation was held on 26 February 1994, took place at the Caldecott Broadcast Centre, Mediacorp TV Theatre with an audience of about 500 people. There have no other pre-show and post-awards ceremony held in that year. Winners were announced during the presentation of the ceremony, the ceremony also presented a popularity contest, with Li Nanxing, Chew Chor Meng and Zoe Tay winning the Most Popular Actor and Actress award, respectively. Fann Wong
Fann Woon Fong (born 27 January 1971), known professionally as Fann Wong, is a Singaporean actress, singer, businesswoman and model. The Star Awards for Rocket was an award presented annually from 2010 to 2016 at the Star Awards, where Mediacorp of Singapore recognises entertainers under their employment with awards for artistic and technical merit for outstanding performances of the year. History The category was introduced in 2010, at the 16th Star Awards ceremony; Elvin Ng received the award for his performance in ''Together'' and it is given in honour of a Mediacorp artiste who have made most improvement in the performance of his/her respective field of profession for the past year. The nominees are determined by a team of judges employed by Mediacorp; winners are selected by a majority vote from the entire judging panel. No nominees were announced for this category. The Star Awards for Favourite Female Character is an award presented annually at the Star Awards, a ceremony that was established in 1994. It is given to an actress who portrayed a drama series or variety show character that is deemed the most popular among the television audience. History The category was introduced in 2010, at the 16th Star Awards ceremony; Jeanette Aw received the award for her role in ''Together.'' Prior to 2012, the nominees were determined by a team of judges employed by Mediacorp. The rule was removed in 2012 to allow the public to determine the nominees entirely via online voting. Winners are also selected by a majority vote from the public via online voting as well. Star Awards 2010 (Simplified Chinese, Chinese: 红星大奖 2010) was a double television award ceremony held in Singapore. It is part of the annual Star Awards organised by Mediacorp, MediaCorp for the two free-to-air channels, Channel 8 (Singaporean TV channel), MediaCorp Channel 8 and Channel U (Singaporean TV channel), MediaCorp Channel U. Star Awards 2004 was a television award telecasted in 2004 as part of the annual Star Awards organised by MediaCorp for MediaCorp TV Channel 8. This award was the 11th installment since its first presentation in 1994, ten years ago. This award ceremony saw revamps to various category awards, such as the introduction to the All-Time Favourite Artiste (an award for artistes who held ten Top 10 Most Popular Artistes Awards, recipients will not be eligible for future Top 10 Most Popular Artistes Awards), popularity polls held in Taiwan and Malaysia were discontinued and the retirement of the Special Achievement Award. The ceremony was held on 12 December 2004 at the MediaCorp TV Theater with Timothy Chao and Taiwanese hostess Matilda Tao Matilda Tao Ching-ying (; born 29 October 1969) is a Taiwanese singer, television host and author. Star Awards For All-Time Favourite Artiste
The Star Awards for All-Time Favourite Artiste is an award presented annually at the Star Awards, all artistes conferred with this award will be ineligible for subsequent nominations for the Top 10 Awards. This award is awarded to artistes who have won a cumulative ten Top 10 awards in either Male or Female artistes over a span of 10 award ceremonies; the top 10 wins do not need to be consecutive. In 2023, the top three Most Popular Rising Stars will also count towards the 10 wins. History The formal award was introduced in 2004, during the 11th ceremony. Marcus Chin
Marcus Chin On Kang (born 22 September 1953) is a Singaporean host, actor, comedian, singer, radio DJ, and businessman. Career Chin joined the Singapore Broadcasting Corporation during the 1970s. During the 1990s, he was mainly known for starring in comedic roles in the long-running ''Comedy Nite'' (搞笑行动) and various shows alongside Jack Neo, Moses Lim, Mark Lee, Henry Thia, John Cheng and Jimmy Nah. Star Awards 2018 (also SA2018SG, Chinese: 红星大奖2018) is a television award ceremony which is held in Singapore, with the Post Party and Ceremony Awards was broadcast live on 22 April 2018. A total of 15 awards were handed out during the ceremony, among which the Special Achievement Award, an award given out to a celebrity in recognition to meritorious contribution, returned after a 15-year absence, with the award last presented in 2003, in the place of All-Time Favourite Artiste, which was not presented this year, and the third ceremony overall, after 2007 and 2013.
