Signal Programming
SIGNAL is a programming language based on synchronized dataflow (flows + synchronization): a process is a set of equations on elementary flows describing both data and control. The SIGNAL formal model provides the capability to describe systems with several clocks (polychronous systems) as relational specifications. Relations are useful as partial specifications and as specifications of non-deterministic devices (for instance a non-deterministic bus) or external processes (for instance an unsafe car driver). Using SIGNAL allows one to specify an application, to design an architecture, to refine detailed components down to RTOS or hardware description. The SIGNAL model supports a design methodology which goes from specification to implementation, from abstraction to concretization, from synchrony to asynchrony. Dataflow Programming
In computer programming, dataflow programming is a programming paradigm that models a program as a directed graph of the data flowing between operations, thus implementing dataflow principles and architecture. Dataflow programming languages share some features of functional languages, and were generally developed in order to bring some functional concepts to a language more suitable for numeric processing. Some authors use the term ''datastream'' instead of ''dataflow'' to avoid confusion with dataflow computing or dataflow architecture, based on an indeterministic machine paradigm. Dataflow programming was pioneered by Jack Dennis and his graduate students at MIT in the 1960s. Model-driven Engineering
Model-driven engineering (MDE) is a software development methodology that focuses on creating and exploiting domain models, which are conceptual model (computer science), conceptual models of all the topics related to a specific problem. Hence, it highlights and aims at representation (mathematics), abstract representations of the Knowledge representation and reasoning, knowledge and activities that govern a particular domain (software engineering), application domain, rather than the computing (i.e. algorithmic) concepts. Sliding Window
A sliding window protocol is a feature of packet-based data transmission Protocol (computing), protocols. Sliding window protocols are used where reliable in-order delivery of packets is required, such as in the data link layer (OSI model#Layer 2: Data link layer, OSI layer 2) as well as in the Transmission Control Protocol (i.e., TCP windowing). A domain-specific language (DSL) is a computer language specialized to a particular application domain. This is in contrast to a general-purpose language (GPL), which is broadly applicable across domains. Lustre is a formally defined, declarative, and synchronous dataflow programming language for programming reactive systems. It began as a research project in the early 1980s.
