Shire Of Moreton
The Shire of Moreton was a local government area in South East Queensland, Australia, located about southwest of Queensland's capital, Brisbane. It represented an area surrounding but not including Ipswich, and existed from 1917 until 1995, when it merged into the City of Ipswich, City of Brisbane, and Shire of Esk. History In 1879, the Divisional Boards Act was passed, allowing boards to be created to provide amenities and charge rates, but with limited independence. In a proclamation on 11 November 1879, a number of Divisions were proclaimed in the Ipswich area— Brassall, Bundamba, Mutdapilly, Purga and Walloon. On 25 October 1890, Normanby Division and Rosewood Division followed. The Local Authorities Act 1902 abolished the divisional boards, replacing them with shire or town councils with the same powers plus the jurisdiction to create by-laws. On 31 March 1903, its provisions took effect, replacing the above divisions with the Shires of Brassall, Bundamba, Mutdapil ...

The Shire of Albert was a local government area in Queensland, located south of the capital, Brisbane, and taking in areas to the north and west of the Gold Coast. It was named after the Prince Consort of the United Kingdom, and husband of Queen Victoria, Prince Albert. After the separate creation of Logan as a shire (later City) in 1978, Albert lost most of its population and became more centred upon the Gold Coast, which experienced a massive period of growth from then until the Shire's amalgamation with the City of Gold Coast in 1995. History Divisional Boards By the late 1870s, the Government of Queensland had become preoccupied with the idea of getting local residents to pay through rates for local services, which had become a massive cost to the colony and were undermaintained in many areas. Shire Of Lowood
The Shire of Lowood is a former local government area in the south-east of Queensland, Australia. It existed between 1912 and 1916. History From around 1890, increasing settlement in and around the town of Lowood resulted in ongoing agitation to establish a new shire. An alternative proposal was to relocate the office of the Shire of Walloon away from Marburg and into Lowood on the grounds that the majority of the population of the Shire of Walloon used Lowood as their market town and that Lowood had the advantage of being on the railway line (which Marburg was not). In November 1907, the decision was made to relocate the office to Lowood, which was rescinded in the following month. The issue continued to be argued for some time, with petitions and counter-petitions. However, once it became clear the office would not be relocated to Lowood, the Lowood area residents resumed their push for the establishment of a separate shire. Eventually, on 19 January 1912, under the ''Local Au ...
