September 2022 Burkina Faso Coup D'état
A coup d'état took place in Burkina Faso on 30 September 2022, removing Interim President Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba over his alleged inability to deal with the country's Islamist insurgency. Damiba had come to power in a coup d'état just eight months earlier. Captain Ibrahim Traoré took over as interim leader. Roch Marc Christian Kaboré
Roch Marc Christian Kaboré (; born 25 April 1957) is a Burkinabé banker and politician who served as the President of Burkina Faso from 2015 until he was deposed in 2022. He was the Prime Minister of Burkina Faso between 1994 and 1996 and President of the National Assembly of Burkina Faso from 2002 to 2012. Kaboré was also president of the Congress for Democracy and Progress (CDP) until his departure from the party in 2014. He founded the People's Movement for Progress party that same year. Kaboré was elected president in the November 2015 general election, winning a majority in the first round of voting. Upon taking office, he became the first non-interim president in 49 years without any past ties to the military. Kaboré worked as a banker prior to his political career. Troll Farm
A troll farm or troll factory is an institutionalised group of internet trolls that seeks to interfere in political opinions and decision-making. One study showed that 30 governments worldwide (out of 65 covered by the study) paid keyboard armies to spread propaganda and attack critics. According to the report, these governments use paid commentators, trolls, and bots to harass journalists and erode trust in the media. The Siege of Djibo is an ongoing blockade of the city of Djibo in Burkina Faso by several factions of Jihadism, Jihadist Islamism, Islamist rebels. The siege began in February 2022, and is part of the Jihadist insurgency in Burkina Faso. Djibo is located in Burkina Faso's north, an area which is one of the centers of Jihadist rebel activity. Since the start of the Jihadist insurgency in 2015, the city was gradually isolated from the rest of the country as the rebels increased their attacks. Emmanuel Zoungrana
Emmanuel Zoungrana is a former military officer of Burkina Faso. He graduated from Prytanée militaire du Kadiogo (PMK), which trains officers of the Burkinabe army. He was the commander of the 12th infantry commando regiment. Education He enrolled at the Kadiogo military school in 1993. In 2000, he obtained a baccalaureate with a philosophy option, then joined the Togo Cadet Officers School, from which he graduated as a lieutenant in 2003. He then turned to commando training.
