Santiago de Huamán, simply known as Huaman (from meaning 'hawk') is a traditional village in Trujillo, Peru, Trujillo, Peru; it is located in the western part of the city in Víctor Larco Herrera, Peru, Víctor Larco Herrera. Virú Culture
The Virú culture (alternatively known as the ''Gallinazo'') was a pre-Columbian, pre-Inca culture that flourished in the Virú Valley on the northwest coast of Peru. It marks the start of the Early Intermediate Period of Peru, dating roughly around 200 BCE. This North Coast culture was based in the Virú Valley and extended into the Moche and Santa Valleys as well. The Virú Valley is on a coastal landscape which consists of a narrow land strip boarded by the Andes Mountains to its east and the Pacific Ocean to the west. The capital of the Virú valley during this time period was an urban area called the ''Gallinazo Group site''. The Gallinazo group site was the primary center of the valley during this time and most likely the seat of regional leadership. Víctor Larco Herrera also called commonly Víctor Larco is a district and a city of the north coast of Peru. It is located on a plain along the Pacific Ocean and is linked by a conurbation with Trujillo in La Libertad region. It is considered one of the 9 districts of the urban area known as '' Trujillo Metropolitano'', one of the most populous metropolitan areas of Peru; it is also one of the 11 districts of Trujillo province. Marcahuamachuco is an archeological site of Pre-Incan ruins in the La Libertad Region of Peru. Although less well-known than other sites, it is considered significant and has been referred to by archaeologists as " Machu Picchu of the North" and "The Jewel of La Libertad." History Construction of Marcahuamachuco began around AD 400, during the Andean Middle Horizon period and continued until approximately 800 AD. Puerto Chicama
Malabrigo also called unofficially Puerto Chicama, is a port and small coastal city in northwestern Peru, located in La Libertad Region, some 70 km north of Trujillo city. The town is home to the Chicama wave, the first legally protected wave in the world, as well as the world's longest left-breaking wave—see External Links. Huanchaco
Huanchaco is a popular seaside resort city in province of Trujillo, Peru. Huanchaco is known for its surf breaks, its caballitos de totora and its ceviche, and is near the ancient ruins of Chan Chan.
