Santa Clara County Fairgrounds
The Santa Clara County Fairgrounds is an event venue in San Jose, California. The fairgrounds has been owned by the County of Santa Clara since 1940 and is operated by the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds Management Corporation, a public-benefit nonprofit corporation. Since 1941, the fairgrounds has been the site of the annual Santa Clara County Fair. In its heyday in the mid-20th century, the fairgrounds hosted over 1.4 million people annually in public and private events. However, attendance declined throughout the 1990s and by 2003 had fallen to around 850,000. Location The fairgrounds is located in the Spartan Keyes neighborhood of San Jose, California. It is bounded by Monterey Road to the west and Umbarger Road to the south. Tully Road separates the main portion of the site from a large parking lot. San Jose Steam Railroad Museum
The San Jose Steam Railroad Museum is a planned railroad museum within Santa Clara County that has been under development by California Trolley and Railroad Corporation since 1992. This project was originally intended to be located at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds in San Jose, California; however in 2002, the Board of Supervisors voted to rescind support of the proposed railroad museum at that location. Since then, CTRC has been actively working with various public agencies for a suitable alternate site. The proposed location is near downtown San Jose. Lenzen Roundhouse The Lenzen Roundhouse consists of the six stall San Jose Roundhouse, turntable, water tower and herder's shack. The roundhouse was donated to the CRTC by Southern Pacific Railroad. Northern California Folk-Rock Festival (1969)
The Northern California Folk-Rock Festival was a music festival held at Santa Clara County Fairgrounds in San Jose, California on May 23–25, 1969 and promoted by Bob Blodgett. It was the second such festival held at the venue, following the Northern California Folk-Rock Festival (1968). The festival featured The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Jefferson Airplane, The Chambers Brothers, Spirit, Canned Heat, Buffy Sainte-Marie, The Youngbloods, Steve Miller, Chuck Berry, Taj Mahal, Noel Redding, Lee Michaels, Blues Image, Santana, Aum, Elvin Bishop, Poco, People!, Linn County, The Loading Zone, Sweet Linda Divine, Cat Mother, Doc Watson & New Lost City Ramblers, Sable. The Northern California Folk-Rock Festival was a music festival held at Family Park in the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds, 344 Tully Road, San Jose, California, on May 18–19, 1968 and promoted by Bob Blodgett. It was the first of two such festivals held at the venue, being followed by the Northern California Folk-Rock Festival (1969). The festival featured Country Joe and the Fish, The Animals, Jefferson Airplane, The Doors, Big Brother and the Holding Company feat. Janis Joplin, The Youngbloods, The Electric Flag, Kaleidoscope, Taj Mahal, and Ravi Shankar. And although not mentioned in the promotional material, the Grateful Dead also performed. The World of Outlaws (often abbreviated WoO) is an American motorsports sanctioning body. The body sanctions two major national touring series. It is best known for sanctioning the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and the World of Outlaws Late Model Series. These dirt track racing series are owned and operated by World Racing Group. Silicon Valley Pride
Silicon Valley Pride, also known as San Jose Pride, is an annual LGBT pride celebration in San Jose, California, the largest city in Silicon Valley. Founded in 1975, it is organized by the Gay Pride Celebration Committee of San Jose. History San Jose Pride began as a gay rights rally in 1975 at San José State University. The following year, it evolved into the San Jose Gay Pride Festival, held at St. James Park from 1976 until 1985 (except for 1981 and 1982, when it was held at Plaza de César Chávez). Bud Winter Field was the San Jose State University track and field arena, named after former coach Lloyd "Bud" Winter.
