S (New York City Subway Service)
Three services in the New York City Subway are designated as a S ( shuttle) service. These services operate as full-time or almost full-time shuttles. In addition, three services run as shuttles during late night hours but retain their regular service designations. Shuttle services Official designations All of the following services are officially labeled S. The "NYCT designator" column stands for New York City Transit's internal designation for the service. Temporary shuttles Late-night shuttles Former uses Other routes have in the past been designated S or SS; the label has also been used for temporary shuttles due to construction. Before June 1979, all shuttles had the label SS; the designation S was reserved for "special"' services, including IND trains to Aqueduct Racetrack. Prospect Park Station (BMT Lines)
The Prospect Park station is an express station on the BMT Brighton Line of the New York City Subway. Located in between Lincoln Road, Lefferts Avenue, Empire Boulevard, Ocean Avenue and Flatbush Avenue in Flatbush, Brooklyn, near the border of Crown Heights, Prospect Heights, Park Slope, and Prospect Lefferts Gardens, it is served by the Q train and Franklin Avenue Shuttle at all times and by the B train on weekdays. History This station opened on July 2, 1878 when the Brooklyn, Flatbush and Coney Island Railway established it as the Brighton Line's temporary northern terminus on what was then known as the Willink Entrance to Prospect Park. On August 18, 1878, the line was completed north to Bedford Terminal with a connection to the Long Island Rail Road. Ozone Park–Lefferts Boulevard (IND Fulton Street Line)
Ozone (), or trioxygen, is an inorganic molecule with the chemical formula . It is a pale blue gas with a distinctively pungent smell. It is an allotrope of oxygen that is much less stable than the diatomic allotrope , breaking down in the lower atmosphere to (dioxygen). Ozone is formed from dioxygen by the action of ultraviolet (UV) light and electrical discharges within the Earth's atmosphere. It is present in very low concentrations throughout the latter, with its highest concentration high in the ozone layer of the stratosphere, which absorbs most of the Sun's ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Euclid Avenue (IND Fulton Street Line)
The Euclid Avenue station is an express station on the IND Fulton Street Line of the New York City Subway, located at the intersection of Euclid and Pitkin Avenues in East New York, Brooklyn. It is served by the A train at all times and is the southern terminal for the C train at all times except nights. During nights, this is the northern terminal for the Lefferts Boulevard shuttle train from Ozone Park, Queens. Construction on the Euclid Avenue station started in 1938, but this part of the Fulton Street Line did not open until 1948. The Fulton Street Line was extended to the east in 1956, connecting to the Fulton Street Elevated via a branch line that runs through the Grant Avenue station. Elevators were installed at Euclid Avenue circa 2000. The station has four tracks and two island platforms. East 180th Street (IRT White Plains Road Line)
The East 180th Street station (originally East 180th Street–Morris Park Avenue station) is an elevated express station on the IRT White Plains Road Line of the New York City Subway. Located at the intersection of East 180th Street and Morris Park Avenue in the Bronx, it is served by the 2 and 5 trains at all times. The East 180th Street station was built by the Interborough Rapid Transit Company (IRT) under the Dual Contracts and opened in 1917 as part of an extension of the White Plains Road Line to East 219th Street–White Plains Road. The 180th Street station of the New York, Westchester and Boston Railway (NYW&B) is immediately adjacent to the IRT station. When the NYW&B went bankrupt in 1937, a portion of the main line was converted into the IRT Dyre Avenue Line, and the NYW&B platforms were abandoned after the Dyre Avenue Line was connected to the White Plains Road Line in 1957. Coney Island–Stillwell Avenue Station
The Coney Island–Stillwell Avenue station (also known as Coney Island Terminal and signed on some trains as either Coney Island or Stillwell Avenue) is a New York City Subway terminal in Coney Island, Brooklyn. It is the railroad-south terminus for the D, F, N, and Q trains at all times and for the <F> train during rush hours in the peak direction. Coney Island–Stillwell Avenue has eight tracks and four island platforms, with trains entering from both compass north and south. Opened in 1919–20, the large facility was designed at a time when Coney Island was the primary summer resort area for the New York metropolitan area, with all of the rail lines in southern Brooklyn funneling service to the area.
