Sévigny, Orne
Sévigny () is a commune in the Orne department in north-western France. Geography The commune is made up of the following collection of villages and hamlets, Les Buttes, Le Tellier and Sévigny. Parts of the commune make up the area, the Plaine d'Argentan, which is known for its cereal growing fields and horse stud farms. Sévigny along with another 65 communes is part of a 20,593 hectare, Natura 2000 conservation area, called the Haute vallée de l'Orne et affluents. The Ruisseau des Fontaines Thiot is the only watercourse in the Commune. Notable buildings and places * Haras du Petit Tellier, one of the oldest thoroughbred horse breeding farms in France is based in the Commune. Albert Sévigny
Albert Sévigny, (December 31, 1881 – May 14, 1961) was a Canadian politician, and a judge. Life and career Sévigny was born in Tingwick, Quebec. He opened a law practice in Quebec City in 1905 and practiced until 1911. Political career In 1907, he was a candidate for the Quebec Conservative Party in a provincial by-election, but was defeated. He was elected to the House of Commons of Canada in the 1911 federal election. His election was facilitated by an informal alliance between the Conservatives and the Nationalists led by Henri Bourassa because of Sevigny's sympathy with Bourassa's views. In Parliament, Sevigny became a supporter of Canadian participation in World War I despite the strong opposition of most Quebecers, and became a staunch Conservative. He was appointed Deputy Speaker in 1915, and in 1916, he became Speaker of the House of Commons of Canada. Bernard Sévigny (born December 18, 1961) is a Canadian politician, who was mayor of Sherbrooke, Quebec from 2009 to 2017. Education Sévigny has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and French from the University of Alberta. He has a certificate in information and journalism from the Université de Montréal. He also holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics, as well as a Master's degree in the management and development of co-operatives, and a doctor of business administration from the Université de Sherbrooke. Joseph Pierre Albert Sévigny (; February 12, 1917 – March 20, 2004) was a Canadian soldier, author, politician, and academic. He is best known for his involvement in the Munsinger Affair. Life and career Born in Quebec City, Quebec, the son of Albert Sévigny, the Speaker of the House of Commons of Canada in 1916, he graduated from Université Laval and Columbia University. He briefly attempted to pursue a career in acting, even being given a screen test by MGM in 1935, but instead returned to Canada to work in real estate, construction and in the import-export business. Joseph Jean Pierre Sévigny (born September 8, 1971) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League (NHL). Playing career As a junior, he played for the Verdun Junior Canadiens and Saint-Hyacinthe Laser of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.Podnieks, p. 777 He was drafted in the third round of the 1989 NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens.
