Swedish Women's Educational Association
The Swedish Women's Educational Association, referred to as SWEA but officially designated SWEA International, Inc., is a global non-profit organization and a network for Swedish and Swedish-speaking women who reside or have resided outside of Sweden. SWEA is represented in many locations throughout the world and plays a major role in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs (Sweden), Swedish State Department's emergency management plan. SWEA is a politically and religiously independent organization. Organization SWEA International is the largest non-profit organization promoting Sweden outside of Sweden with the goal of promoting the Swedish language and spreading Swedish culture and tradition. Maria Kristina "Tina" Nordström Holmqvist (born 6 August 1973) is a Swedish celebrity chef and television personality from Helsingborg, Sweden. She hosted the second season of '' New Scandinavian Cooking'' on PBS stations on American television, replacing Andreas Viestad as host of the show; she was succeeded by Claus Meyer. Maria Strømme, (born 7 April 1970 in Svolvær) is a Norwegian physicist who lives and works in Sweden. Career She became a professor in nanotechnology at Uppsala University in 2004. She became Sweden's youngest professor in a technical subject. Strømme holds a master of science degree in engineering physics, and completed her doctoral thesis in solid state physics in 1997 at Uppsala University. Petra Wadström (born 20 February 1952) is a Swedish inventor of a water purification device called Solvatten, which is a portable device that heats and purifies dirty local water in locations with access to significant amounts of sunshine. Life and work Wadström did biochemical medical research at the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden, and then moved to Basel, Switzerland, to join a team exploring DNA research. While living in Australia for a year in the late 1990s, Wadström tackled one problem of families living off-the-grid, lack of access to clean water. She chose to use the power of intense sunshine. Nina Maria Stemme (born Thöldte, 11 May 1963) is a Swedish dramatic soprano opera singer. Stemme "is regarded by today's opera fans as our era's greatest Wagnerian soprano".
