Supercopa Do Brasil
The Supercopa do Brasil (), also known as Supercopa Rei (), is a Brazilian association football trophy organized by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF). It is contested between the champions of the Campeonato Brasileiro and the winners of the Copa do Brasil. If the same club wins Campeonato Brasileiro and Copa do Brasil, their opponent will be the Campeonato Brasileiro runner-up. The Brazilian Football Confederation announced in 2013 a new edition of the competition was expected to be played in 2015. The revival would only take place in 2020. In honor of ''O Rei'' Pelé, who died in 2022, the Supercopa do Brasil was renamed the Supercopa Rei on 31 January 2024. The Brazilian Football Confederation (, CBF) is the governing body of football in Brazil. It was founded on Monday, 8 June 1914, as , and renamed Confederação Brasileira de Desportos in 1916. The football confederation, as known today, separated from other sports associations on 24 September 1979. The CBF has its headquarters in Rio de Janeiro. The confederation owns a training center, named Granja Comary, located in Teresópolis. It was announced on 29 September 2007, that the CBF would launch a women's league and cup competition in October 2007 following pressure from FIFA president Sepp Blatter during the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup in China. The 2023 Supercopa do Brasil (officially the Supercopa Betano do Brasil 2023 for sponsorship reasons) was the sixth edition of Supercopa do Brasil, an annual football match played between the champions of the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A and Copa do Brasil. The match was played on 28 January 2023 between Palmeiras and Flamengo, who qualified after winning the 2022 Campeonato Brasileiro Série A and the 2022 Copa do Brasil, respectively. On 11 January 2023, the CBF announced that the match would be hosted at Arena BRB Mané Garrincha in Brasília. Palmeiras won the match 4–3 to claim their first ever title in the tournament. Arena Pantanal is a multi-use stadium in Cuiabá, Brazil. It has been the home ground of Campeonato Brasileiro Série B club Cuiabá Esporte Clube since 2015. Completed on 26 April 2014, it is used mostly for football and hosted four group stage matches during the 2014 FIFA World Cup. During the World Cup, the arena had a capacity of 41,390, and currently can seat 42,788 spectators. Prior to its use for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the venue received much criticism.
