Public transport in Helsinki consists of bus, Helsinki tram, tram, Helsinki Metro, metro, Helsinki commuter rail, local railway and ferry services. The system is managed by the Helsinki Regional Transport Authority (, or HSL) and covers Helsinki, Espoo, Kauniainen, Vantaa and the outlying Kerava, Kirkkonummi, Sipoo and Tuusula. Until the August 9, 2021 opening of the Tampere light rail, Helsinki was the only Finnish city to have a tram system. The city of Turku dismantled its tram system in 1972, and Finland lost the city of Vyborg to the USSR in World War II and the city subsequently withdrew its trams in 1957. Karis
Karis (; ) is a town and former municipality in Finland. On January 1, 2009, it was consolidated with Ekenäs and Pohja to form the new municipality of Raseborg (). It is located in the Finnish province of Southern Finland and is part of Uusimaa, one of the regions of Finland. The town had a population of 9,155 (as of 31 December 2008) and covered a land area of . The population density was . Riihimäki (; ) is a town and municipality in the south of Finland, about north of Helsinki and southeast of Tampere. Ring Rail Line
The Ring Rail Line (, ; formerly ''Marjarata'') is a railway route in the area of the city of Vantaa, in the Greater Helsinki Metropolitan Area of Finland. It connects Helsinki-Vantaa Airport and the adjacent Aviapolis business and retail district to the Helsinki commuter rail network. The line fills the gap between Vantaankoski and Tikkurila railway stations, travelling in tunnel underneath the airport. The line started operating on 1 July 2015. History The founding stone of the line was laid on 3 March 2009, and construction was started on 13 May 2009 with the excavation of service tunnels. The excavation of a 300 m long tunnel station under the airport was completed in March 2010, as the construction was proceeding on schedule. Helsinki Central Railway Station
Helsinki Central Station (, ) (List of IATA-indexed railway stations, HEC) is the main station for commuter rail and long-distance trains departing from Helsinki, Finland. About 200,000 people "pass through the station" every day, half of whom are train passengers. The station serves as the terminus for all trains in the Helsinki commuter rail, Helsinki commuter rail network, as well as for all Helsinki-bound long-distance trains in Finland. Östersundom (previously known in Finnish as ''Itäsalmi'') is a subdistrict of Helsinki, Finland, near to the border of Sipoo. Vuosaari () is a Subdivisions of Helsinki#Neighbourhoods, neighbourhood in the city of Helsinki, Finland. It is located by the sea in East Helsinki and with its area of is geographically the largest district in the city. It also has two Helsinki Metro stations, Rastila metro station, Rastila and Vuosaari metro station, Vuosaari Vuosaari is one of the fastest-growing areas in Helsinki.
