Sundance And The Kid
''Sundance and the Kid'' () is a 1969 Spaghetti Western comedy directed by Duccio Tessari and starring Giuliano Gemma, Nino Benvenuti, and Sydne Rome. The film was also released under the titles ''Alive or Preferably Dead'' and ''Sundance Cassidy and Butch the Kid''. Plot Two estranged brothers, city gambler Monty (Gemma) and Wild West farmer Ted Mulligan (Benvenuti), inherit $300,000 from their late uncle, on condition that they endure to live together for six months. The two start fighting about everything, and trouble begins as soon as Monty arrives in Ted's hometown. Duccio Tessari
Duccio Tessari (11 October 1926 – 6 September 1994) was an Italian film director, screenwriter and actor, considered one of the fathers of Spaghetti Westerns. Born in Genoa, Tessari started in the fifties as documentarist and as screenwriter of Sword-and-sandal, peplum films. In 1964 he co-wrote Sergio Leone's ''A Fistful of Dollars'', one year later he gained an impressive commercial success and launched the Giuliano Gemma's career with ''A Pistol for Ringo'' and its immediate sequel, ''The Return of Ringo''. In 1975, Tessari launched the most popular and successful European depiction of Zorro, when he directed ''Zorro (1975 Italian film), Zorro'' starring Alain Delon as the titular masked hero. The movie was a smash hit in Europe, Russia, Japan and China. He later touched different genres and worked in RAI, directing some successful TV-series. He died of cancer in Rome, at 67. Terence Hill (born Mario Girotti; 29 March 1939) is an Italian actor, film director, screenwriter and film producer. He began his career as a child actor and gained international fame for starring roles in action and comedy films, many with his Terence Hill and Bud Spencer, long-time film partner and friend Bud Spencer. During the height of his popularity, Hill was among Italy's highest-paid actors. His most widely seen films include comic and standard spaghetti Westerns, some based on popular novels by German author Karl May about the American frontier, Wild West. Films, particularly those of the influential Dollars trilogy, spawned numerous films of the same ilk and often with similar titles, particularly from the mid to late 1960s and early 1970s. By the end of the 1970s, spaghetti Westerns had lost their following among mainstream cinema audiences and the production had ground to a virtual halt.
