Styx
In Greek mythology, Styx (; ; lit. "Shuddering"), also called the River Styx, is a goddess and one of the rivers of the Greek Underworld. Her parents were the Titans Oceanus and Tethys, and she was the wife of the Titan Pallas and the mother of Zelus, Nike, Kratos, and Bia. She sided with Zeus in his war against the Titans, and because of this, to honor her, Zeus decreed that the solemn oaths of the gods be sworn by the water of Styx. Family According to the usual account, Styx was the eldest of the Oceanids, the many daughters of the Titan Oceanus, the great world-encircling river, and his sister-wife, the Titaness Tethys. Bruce Dickinson
Paul Bruce Dickinson (born 7 August 1958) is an English singer who is best known as the lead vocalist of the heavy metal band Iron Maiden. Dickinson has performed in the band across two stints, from 1981 to 1993 and from 1999 to the present day. He is known for his wide-ranging operatic vocal style and energetic stage presence. Dickinson began his career in music fronting small pub bands in the 1970s while attending school in Sheffield and university in London. In 1979, he joined British new wave heavy metal band Samson, with whom he gained some popularity under the stage name "Bruce Bruce" and performed on two studio records. A borane is a compound with the formula although examples include multi-boron derivatives. A large family of boron hydride clusters is also known. In addition to some applications in organic chemistry, the boranes have attracted much attention as they exhibit structures and bonding that differs strongly from the patterns seen in hydrocarbons. Styx Rule
The styx rule, also known as Lipscomb's styx rule, can be used to calculate the structures of boranes. It was developed by William Lipscomb in 1954. The rule defines boranes to have four types of bonds besides the terminal Boron, B-Hydrogen, H bonds: Where: * B-H-B bonds are Three-center two-electron bond, 3c-2e bonds, taking up three orbitals and two valence electrons. * B-B-B bonds are 3c-2e bonds, taking up three orbitals and two valence electrons. * B-B bonds are 2c-2e bonds, taking up two orbitals and two valence electrons. * The -BH2 group consists of an extra B-H bond formed on the BH units and is thus considered to take up two orbitals and two valence electrons. The bonding structure deduced by the styx rule doesn't reflect the true symmetry of boranes. ''Styx'' is a monotypic genus of butterflies in the metalmark family Riodinidae. It consists of one species, ''Styx infernalis'', described by Otto Staudinger in 1875. It is endemic to Peru, where it inhabits tropical montane cloud forests between the elevations of 1000-1600 meters. The genus ''Styx'' has had a complicated taxonomic history. Initially identified as a moth, it has been reclassified numerous times into several different butterfly families, and once occupying its own distinct family as "Stygidae" before ultimately being classified into the subfamily Nemeobiinae in the family Riodinidae, a classification that has been supported by both morphological and genetic evidence. 9P (or the Plan 9 Filesystem Protocol or Styx) is a network protocol developed for the Plan 9 from Bell Labs distributed operating system as the means of connecting the components of a Plan 9 system. Files are key objects in Plan 9. They represent windows, network connections, processes, and almost anything else available in the operating system. 9P was revised for the 4th edition of Plan 9 under the name 9P2000, containing various improvements. Some of the improvements made are the removal of certain filename restrictions, the addition of a 'last modifier' metadata field for directories, and authentication files.
