Strata Tower
Strata Tower is a forty-story luxury residential building in Abu Dhabi, designed by New York-based architects Hani Rashid and Lise Anne Couture of Asymptote Architecture, currently being built on Al Raha Beach. Construction has begun and it was scheduled for completion by 2013. It is being developed by Aldar Properties. Overview Strata Tower was planned to have a height of 160 meters to dominate the skyline of the Al Dana precinct. Asymptote designed the tower to have a curvilinear exterior, with a cantilevered exoskeleton structure which allows much light into the interior. Hani Rashid
Hani Rashid (born 1958 in Cairo) is an architect and educator. He co-founded the New York-based architecture firm, Asymptote Architecture with Lise Anne Couture. Early life and education Hani Rashid was born in Cairo, Egypt in 1958, his family immigrated to Ontario, Canada when he was young. His brother is industrial designer, Karim Rashid. In 1983, Hani Rashid received his bachelor's degree in Architecture from Carleton University in Canada. It was at Carleton University he met his wife and future business partner, Lise Anne Couture. In 1985, he received a master of architecture degree from the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Architectural work Rashid co-founded the New York-based architecture firm, Asymptote Architecture with his wife, Lise Anne Couture in 1989. Lise Anne Couture (born 1959 in Montreal, Canada) is an architect and educator. She is the co-founder of Asymptote Architecture, in partnership with Hani Rashid. She is based in Brooklyn, New York. Early life and education Lise Anne Couture was born in 1959 in Montreal, Canada. Couture attended Carleton University and received a bachelor's degree in architecture in 1983. It was at Carleton University she met her future husband and business partner, Hani Rashid. She received a Master's of Architecture degree in 1986 from Yale University. Asymptote Architecture is an American architecture practice, based in Long Island City, New York. Asymptote Architecture is known for multidisciplinary architectural designs that often incorporate digital technologies. The firm began with building designs in the United States, and subsequently expanded to international projects.
