''Strange'' is a six-part American comic book Limited series (comics), limited series published by Marvel Comics under their Marvel Knights imprint (trade name), imprint. Written by J. Michael Straczynski and Samm Barnes, with artwork by Brandon Peterson, ''Strange'' is a re-imagining of Doctor Strange's origin. Synopsis While in Tibet, a medical student named Stephen Strange meets a sickly, apparently mute young man named Wong (comics), Wong. He later meets an Ancient One, old man while going to a monastery called "the Garden of Fountains", who asks him why he wants to become a doctor. Later, he hears the young man named Wong start talking after Stephen gives him a watch, hoping he will return later in life. Marvel Knights
Marvel Knights is an imprint of Marvel Comics that contained standalone material taking place inside the Marvel Universe ( Earth-616). The imprint originated in 1998 when Marvel outsourced four titles ('' Black Panther'', '' Punisher'', '' Daredevil'' and '' Inhumans'') to Joe Quesada and Jimmy Palmiotti's company Event Comics; Event hired the creative teams for the Knights line while Marvel published them. History In 1998, Marvel Comics, which had just filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, asked Quesada and Palmiotti to work for Marvel in a more exclusive capacity, and contracted them and their Event Comics partners to produce a line of Marvel books dubbed ''Marvel Knights''. Justin Ponsor
Justin "J-Po" Ponsor (April 20, 1977 – May 18, 2019) was an American comics colorist. Ponsor was born in San Diego, California. After graduating from Palomar College, Ponsor began his professional career in 1996, working for WildStorm as an in-house colorist. He went freelance in 2000 and was one of the first creatives at CrossGen in 2002. In 2005, he began coloring almost exclusively for Marvel. His work on ''Avengers'' earned him a nomination for a Golden Issue Award by ComicBook.com in 2018. Ponsor died on May 18, 2019, after a two-year battle with cancer. He continued working up until his death. In the field of comic books, and particularly in the United States, a limited series is a comics series with a predetermined number of issues. A limited series differs from an ongoing series in that the number of issues is finite and determined before production, and it differs from a one shot in that it is composed of multiple issues. The term is often used interchangeably with miniseries (mini-series) and maxiseries (maxi-series), usually depending on the length and number of issues. In Dark Horse Comics' definition of a limited series, "this term primarily applies to a connected series of individual comic books. An American comic book is a thin periodical literature originating in the United States, commonly between 24 and 64 pages, containing comics. Brandon Peterson (born 1969) is an American comic book writer and artist, known for his work on Marvel Comics and Top Cow's ''Codename: Strykeforce'' in the 1990s. Career Peterson's early works for Marvel include a ''New Warriors'' annual and a fill-in in ''X-Factor (comics), X-Factor'' in 1992. Later in the year, he had a short run in ''Uncanny X-Men'', drawing the title's issues of the "X-Cutioner's Song" storyline. Sara "Samm" Barnes is a television and comics writer, as well as a television producer. Biography Though born in Great Britain to Michael and Bridget Barnes, Barnes was raised in Canada, first in Ottawa, then Toronto and finally Vancouver.
