Stockholm University (SU) () is a public research university in Stockholm, Sweden, founded as a college in 1878, with university status since 1960. With over 33,000 students at four different faculties: law, humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences, it is one of the largest universities in Scandinavia. The ''Academic Ranking of World Universities'' (''ARWU''), also known as the Shanghai Ranking, is one of the annual publications of world university rankings. The league table was originally compiled and issued by Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2003, making it the first global university ranking with multifarious indicators. Since 2009, ARWU has been published and copyrighted annually by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy, an organization focusing on higher education that is not legally subordinated to any universities or government agencies. In 2011, a board of international advisory consisting of scholars and policy researchers was established to provide suggestions. Roslagsbanan
Roslagsbanan () is a Narrow-gauge railway, narrow-gauge commuter railway system in Roslagen, Stockholm County, Sweden. Its combined route length is and there are 38 stations. It is built to the Swedish three foot gauge railways, Swedish three foot () gauge. The SL (Stockholm), Storstockholms Lokaltrafik (SL) classifies it as "light rail" in its maps. The line starts in Stockholm at Stockholm East Station, Stockholm Östra station. It goes north and splits into three branch lines at the junction stations Djursholms Ösby and Roslags Näsby; the three branches terminate at Näsbypark, Österskär and Kårsta. It is double track between Stockholm and Viggbyholm and between Rydbo and Åkersberga. Universitetet Metro Station
Universitetet ("the University") is a Metro station in the Frescati area, close to Stockholm University ''(Stockholms universitet)'', and the Museum of Natural History. It was opened on 12 January 1975 as the northern terminus of the extension from Tekniska högskolan. On 29 January 1978, the line was extended north to Mörby centrum. Since the 1990s, the art on the station consists of tiles featuring Carl von Linné and the UN Declaration of Universal Human Rights, created by Belgian and Parisian artist Françoise Schein. Kista ( is a district in the borough of Rinkeby-Kista, Stockholm, Sweden. Aula Magna (Stockholm University)
Aula Magna is the largest auditorium at Stockholm University in Sweden, completed in 1998. In addition to the large lecture hall there are smaller meeting and seminar rooms. Outside the lecture hall there is a gallery for reading. The auditorium is used for academic gatherings such as conferences and symposium as well as external functions such as general meetings. Nobel lectures have also been held here. Architect Aula Magna was designed by architect Ralph Erskine (architect), Ralph Erskine, who also designed the nearby Allhuset, Stockholm University Library, Aktiverum (Frescatihallen), and the House of Laws for the University. Aula Magna was the last project by Erskine for the university before his death in 2005. The idea of placing an auditorium on the site dates from when the campus was planned in the early 1960s.
