Steven Soderbergh's Unrealized Projects
During his long career, American filmmaker Steven Soderbergh has worked on several projects which never progressed beyond the pre-production stage under his direction. Some of these projects fell into development hell, were officially canceled, were in development limbo or would see life under a different production team. 1980s ''Edward Ford'' In the 1980s, Soderbergh was one of many directors attached to direct Lem Dobbs's screenplay ''Edward Ford'', a drama about an obsessive-compulsive disorder patient trying to become a Hollywood actor, for 20th Century Fox. ''The Last Ship'' After the success of ''Sex, Lies, and Videotape'', Soderbergh had planned on adapting the post-apocalyptic novel '' The Last Ship'' by William Brinkley as his next film. ''Variety'' is an American trade magazine owned by Penske Media Corporation. It was founded by Sime Silverman in New York City in 1905 as a weekly newspaper reporting on theater and vaudeville. In 1933, ''Daily Variety'' was launched, based in Los Angeles, to cover the film industry, motion-picture industry. ''Variety'' website features entertainment news, reviews, box office results, plus a credits database, production charts and film calendar. Guided By Voices
Guided by Voices is an American indie rock band formed in 1983 in Dayton, Ohio. It has made frequent personnel changes but always maintained the presence of principal songwriter Robert Pollard. The most well-known lineup of the band consisted of Pollard (lead vocals), his brother Jim (guitar, bass), Mitch Mitchell (lead guitars), Tobin Sprout (vocals, rhythm guitars), Kevin Fennell (drums), and bassist Greg Demos. Noted at first for its lo-fi aesthetic and Portastudio four-tracks-to-cassette production methods, Guided by Voices' music was influenced by early post– British Invasion garage rock, psychedelic rock, progressive rock, punk rock and post-punk.
