Steve Rossi
Joseph Charles Michael Tafarella (May 25, 1932 – June 22, 2014), better known as Steve Rossi, was an American stand-up comedian and singer, best known from his work with Marty Allen as Allen & Rossi. Early life Born in New York City in 1932, Rossi earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication, arts & theatre and Greek & Latin from Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles. He also served as an officer in the United States Air Force. Career The comedian was discovered by Mae West who, with her manager Jerry Franks, saw him in 1953 as the lead of ''The Student Prince'' at the Civic Light Orchestra in Los Angeles. Under his birth name (Joseph Tafarella), Rossi then signed to a nightclub show with West named Ciro's in Los Angeles. The show was subsequently moved to the Sahara Hotel in Las Vegas. Melvin Edward "Slappy" White (September 27, 1921 – November 7, 1995) was an American comedian and actor. He worked with Redd Foxx on the Chitlin' Circuit of stand-up comedy during the 1950s and 1960s. Gadsden is the county seat of Etowah County in the U.S. state of Alabama. It is located on the Coosa River about northeast of Birmingham and southwest of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Roulette Records was an American record company and label founded in 1957 by George Goldner, Joe Kolsky, Morris Levy and Phil Kahl, with creative control given to producers and songwriters Hugo Peretti and Luigi Creatore. Levy was appointed director. The label had known ties to New York City mobsters. Levy ran the label with an iron fist. In 1958 Roost Records was purchased. Goldner subsequently bowed out of his partnership interest in Roulette and, to cover his gambling debts, sold his record labels Tico, Rama, Gee and—years later—End and Gone to Levy, who grouped them into Roulette.
