Steers is a South African quick-service restaurant brand, serving burgers and chips. Other menu items include chicken burgers, ribs, ice cream, milkshakes, chicken and salads. History Steers founder, George Halamandress, created the original Milky Lane ice cream parlours; this was followed in quick succession by the first South African steakhouse (the Rosebank Golden Spu the Seven Steers steakhouse in Highlands North, Gauteng, Highlands North and the Black Steer in Yeoville in the early 1960s. After George died in 1984, leadership of the chain passed to his nephews Peter, Theo, and their brother, Perry, as well as to George's youngest son, John. The Kansas City Steers were an American basketball team based in Kansas City, Missouri from 1961 to 1963. They were a member of the American Basketball League History The American Basketball League played one full season, 1961–1962, and part of the next season until the league folded on December 31, 1962. The ABL was the first basketball league to have a three point shot for baskets scored far away from the goal. Other rules that set the league apart were a 30-second shooting clock and a wider free throw lane, 18 feet instead of the standard 12. Steering is the control of the direction of motion or the components that enable its control. Steering is achieved through various arrangements, among them ailerons for airplanes, rudders for boats, cylic tilting of rotors for helicopters, and many more. Aircraft Aircraft flight control systems are normally steered when airborne by the use of ailerons, spoileron, or both to bank the aircraft into a turn; although the rudder can also be used to turn the aircraft, it is usually used to minimize adverse yaw, rather than as a means to directly cause the turn.
