St Mary's College, Galway
St Mary's College is a boys secondary school in Galway, Ireland. It educates students aged 12 to 18 for the Junior and Leaving Certificate examinations. It was founded in 1912 as the junior seminary of the Roman Catholic Galway and Kilmacduagh dioceses. St Mary's College retains the status of diocesan college although it ended its boarding provision in 1999. The college currently caters to approximately 400 students, offering a wide and varied range of curricular subjects and many co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. The school celebrated its centennial in 2012, celebrating the completion of its main building in March 1912. The building is faced with granite and limestone, the two predominant stones of County Galway's geology. Gareth Bradshaw (born 13 February 1987) is a Gaelic footballer from Galway that played from 2007 to 2021. Bradshaw plays his club football with Moycullen. Joe Connolly (hurler)
Joe Connolly (born 13 October 1956) is an Irish former hurler who played as a centre-forward at senior level for the Galway county team. Born in Castlegar, County Galway, Connolly first played competitive hurling whilst at school in St Mary's College, Galway. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he first linked up with the Galway minor team, before later joining the under-21 side. He made his senior debut in the 1976 championship. Connolly went on to play a key role for Galway for almost a decade, and won one All-Ireland medal. An All-Ireland runner-up on two occasions, Connolly captained Galway to the All-Ireland title in 1980. Stephen O'Donnell (Irish Footballer)
Stephen O'Donnell (born 15 January 1986) is an Irish professional football coach and former player who is head coach at League of Ireland Premier Division club Dundalk. During his playing career the clubs he played at were Arsenal, Falkirk, Bohemians, Cork City, Galway United, Shamrock Rovers and Dundalk. Club career Arsenal O'Donnell played youth football for Newcastle in County Galway before joining Arsenal as a trainee in the summer of 2002 after completing his Junior Certificate exams. Paul Conroy (Gaelic Footballer)
Paul Conroy (born 22 May 1989) is an Irish Gaelic footballer and teacher who plays at senior level for the Galway county team. Conroy was captain of the All-Ireland winning Minor team in 2007 when they narrowly defeated Derry. Conroy made his Senior championship debut against Roscommon and scored finished the game with a tally of 0–6. Conroy won an Galway Intermediate Club Championship with St James' in 2010 and followed that up with a Connacht title. He played twice for Ireland against Australia in the 2013 International Rules Series. Conroy was named as Galway captain for the 2014 season. James McLoughlin
James McLoughlin (9 April 1929 – 25 November 2005) was the Roman Catholic Bishop of Galway and Kilmacduagh and Apostolic Administrator of Kilfenora, Ireland for twelve years from 1993 to 2005. Early life and education McLoughlin was born in Cross Street in the centre of Galway City on 9 April 1929. His parents ran a small wholesale grocery business. He attended the Patrician Brothers primary school in Nuns' Island and St. Mary's College in Galway. He studied for the priesthood at Maynooth and was ordained on 20 June 1954.
