St Laurence's College
St Laurence's College (known colloquially as Lauries) is an independent Catholic primary and secondary school for boys, located in South Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Founded by the Congregation of Christian Brothers in 1915. the school is a member of Edmund Rice Education Australia. As of 2021, the college had an enrolment of over 1913 students from Year 5 to Year 12. St Laurence's is affiliated with the Associated Independent Colleges sporting association. Some of the college's historic buildings are listed on the Brisbane Heritage Register. History The college was officially opened and blessed on 11 July 1915 by the Archbishop of Brisbane James Duhig. Conrad Ignatius Mario Maximilian Sewell (born 31 March 1988) is an Australian singer and songwriter. Kerry Michael O'Brien (born 27 August 1945) is an Australian journalist based in Byron Bay. He is the former editor and host of '' The 7.30 Report'' and '' Four Corners'' on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). He has been awarded six Walkley Awards during his career. ''Bluey: The Album'' is the soundtrack album for the first series of the Australian animated television series '' Bluey'', which was released on 22 January 2021 by Demon Records. Most of the soundtrack's music was composed and performed by Joff Bush, the composer for the television program, alongside a team of musicians. Gerard Lee
Gerard Lee is an Australian novelist, screenwriter, and director. Early life Gerard Lee was born in Melbourne and brought up in Brisbane in the 1960s in the inner southern suburb of Dutton Park. Lee began writing for ''The Telegraph'' newspaper at the age of 16, although he later attended the University of Queensland, the Australian Film, Television and Radio School, and, many decades later, Queensland University of Technology (QUT). Early career Lee started as a poet and drummer (including sitting in as the drummer for the first performance by Brisbane band, The Go-Betweens). He later moved to fiction and travel writing, then writing for film and television. Murray Foy
Murray Foy (1935–1998) was an Australian teacher, actor, and theatre director. He was born in Quirindi, New South Wales, and died in Toowoomba, Queensland. He was educated at St Laurence's College Brisbane, and trained as a teacher at Kelvin Grove Teachers' College. He was accepted into the inaugural National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) class in 1959, and graduated in 1960 with classmates Robyn Nevin and Edwin Hodgman among others. He continued working throughout his career as an actor, director, artistic director, playwright and theatre teacher. He also served on the Australia Council for the Arts (now Australia Council) Theatre Board during the 1970s. He married actor Kathryn (Kate) Wilson in 1975. They had two children, born 1978 and 1979. Queensland Symphony Orchestra (QSO) is an Australian symphony orchestra in the state of Queensland. The orchestra is based in the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's building in South Bank. The Orchestra is funded by private corporations, the state government and the Australian federal government through the Australia Council. History Queensland Symphony Orchestra played its first concert on 26 March 1947, consisting of 45 musicians, conducted by Percy Code. John Farnsworth Hall was recruited from the Sydney Symphony Orchestra as the Orchestra's first Chief Conductor. John Joseph Symond (born 17 August 1947) is an Australian entrepreneur, former financial executive, and the founder of Aussie Home Loans. Early life Symond was born on 17 August 1947 in Crookwell, New South Wales, and raised in Sydney.
